Cohiba Robusto 2015 (?) ERC

Picked up a three pack of the tubes sometime in the summer of 2015 at the Copenhagen airport. This is the last one I had left.

 

To my dismay, my Xicar lighter gave up yesterday and I realized this morning that all I had to light up was four (!) matches someone left behind. My landlord (and smoking buddy) was at church so I had to take my chances.

 

Pre-light draw is near perfect. All I can really say is that it is very Cohiba. Light up is dominated by cocoa and minor notes of coffee on the finish. Where is the grass? Nowhere to be found but I'm not complaining. Early on, this thing starts to misbehave in terms of construction. I don't feel like its messing with the flavors but I look nervously at the remaining matches and pray quietly that they will suffice.

 

The battle continues but the flavors are still great. Citrus appear out of nowhere to mark the second third. Very potent flavors, growing in strength as well. The coffe is becoming more pronounced on the finish.

 

Towards the end of the second third I get a burst of grass on the finish, lingering on the palate. Medium in body now.

 

Overall, flavors were wonderful from start to finish but the tunneling made the experience less enjoyable. Beautiful transitions that didn't feel forced and just a well rounded cigar. I rarely reach for Cohibas (partly because I don't have that many) but I might need to bite the bullet and get myself a box of these in the next few months. Hopefully with better construction (although I "only" used three of the matches).
