Cigar consumption time machine, would edit what you've smoked

I often wonder (thinking about health, money, time etc) would I, if given the option, erase the experience of the cigars I've not found to be either 'very very good' or 'absolutely wonderful'?

It's obviously a Schrodingers cat situation, when reaching for a cigar, (weather its going to be excellent or not), but if someone offered you a magic eraser to remove all of those bad or mediocre cigar experiences...................Would you?

At the risk of offending all our NC-appreciating brethren, erm, sorry, but..... almost all of them. A cigar shouldn’t taste like an ashtray. (Dives for cover behind sofa)

As far as CCs go, like most, I’ve had many dodgy singles. But I’ve only ever had one box that would qualify - Punch Royals RE Benelux APO JUL 09. I have half a dozen left. Two have been glorious. I traded two. The rest have been dowels. I think they were rolled by a steam traction engine. It’s not a plug if it runs the whole length of the cigar!

So, with hindsight, I would DEFINITELY have bought something else.

I sort of meant more, if you could go back in time, walk up to yourself (as your past self) is about to spark up a dud, and go

Yes, absolutely, I hate bad cigars. Years ago that would have been a big help. These days I do a reasonable job at avoiding them and usually pitch them pretty quickly. Usually a burn issue.

It's a good answer.  but it can also work the other way. Once you've had excellent cigars,  suddenly 'ok' can seem that much more pointless.

Not to get too Academic here but how would you know whether you liked, really liked, loved, etc. a cigar unless you had bad or less than ideal cigar experiences to compare the good ones too?

How do you know something is “good” unless you know what “bad”, “horrible”, “below average” are?

Sorry, I should of specified. 

I meant you retain all of your knowledge of what makes cigars excellent, but simply you can erase the actual memories of smoking bad or mediocre cigars. 

I'm not saying I'm one way or another. It's something I find interesting, as I and quite a smokers I know, have an odd affection for bad cigar memories of the past, even if at the time it was annoying. I remember smoking shitty Partagas Perfectos and Gisperts in the late 90's and although they were awful cigars, I look back on those experiences fondly now. 

These days however, after a mediocre, or just ok cigar, I do often think to myself, "Well.......I'll never get that time back"

If I could retain knowledge, I would wipe out almost all bad smoking experiences, I’d keep a couple in the memory bank for story telling purposes

Off point, I know, but if I could go back in time to visit myself, cigar info would not be a priority. A list of winning lottery numbers would be - helping alleviate any of pain of having smoked less than stellar cigars.....

Well, I don't know how this time travel works, so I don't know how I'd get there. But once there, I'd surely be riding my bike...

       And the local, domestic 5 Vegas Gold Maduro.  The only benefit I got out of this one was to discover that I really don't care for Pennsylvania Broadleaf tobacco. 

      So those are the primary two that I would have found Dutch Masters or El Producto a better smoking experience than...

Give me back the time when my second 5er I purchased was the Drew Estate Java Mint. Oh god I just tried the last of the 5er yesterday just to see. Threw it out less than an inch in. The sugar tip, artificial chocolate and mint get in the way of everything. The retrohale was just.... nothing. Absolutely nothing on the retrohale. Can't believe I thought the first one I had out of the fiver was pretty decent lol.

Yeah that Monte 2 I smoked last night was absolutely flavorless. I couldn't get over that it was just hot air. I was in shock that a Monte can lack any and all taste.

That's why I'm sticking with the petit edmundos from now on. I prefer not to mix gambling and smoking a cigar with each other.

I've got a box of Monty PE's I'm sitting on that I got from 24:24 maybe a month ago. I smoked one and put the rest away. The one I smoked was very flavorful. I still can't believe that #2 was completely lacking in flavor.

Nah, I’d keep them all. All of the bad ones, really. Just a part of the journey as a whole, I suppose. Wouldn’t even wipe out those ridiculous glass top selections my brother and I picked up at a Mexican Riviera resort before we knew anything about cigars. Why? Because we enjoyed the hell out of them at the time and laughed our asses off when we later read about the sucker tourists who buy these atrocities. We probably wouldn’t even have been able to enjoy a good authentic stick at the time anyway with all that watered down rum we were drinking.

I guess though, if I had to pick any experiences to go back and erase, it would be the actual good cigars I’ve chosen to smoke, like an idiot, when I’m sick and can’t taste a thing. Desperation can drive men to do unspeakable things....

Now, I might answer differently if the question posed was in regards to my current self just getting all the $$$ back from all those pooch rockets smoked over the years....

singularly the most disgusting cigar I have ever tried to smoke.

Huge, infused and marinated ,came in a sealed plastic bag.

Has anyone here seen/smoked one ?
