Some great images on this thread! Here are some recent shots from me - @hechoencamera on Instagram is the best way to keep up with me.

Ok, great thread idea. I'll play! I'm an amateur "picture taker" as Photographer I perceive may be too strong of a title for me. I love photography though and it's something that relaxes me and c

Here's a still life I shot when I got back from Cuba with some merchandise.  FYI, those "ice" cubes cost more then a Talisman ... each.

Closing time, for those of us on the East Coast.  Time for a drink.

And perhaps something a little harder too.  March has been rough; four snow storms so far, all of which caused four different photo shoots to be rescheduled.  Bottoms up.

The Pantheon in Rome today. Wet and miserable, yet still breathtaking. As usual, shot with Nikon D750, and Nikkor 24-120mm f4.

1/80 at f/11, ISO 200, 35mm.

Going through the harddrives and server, looking for images to write up some blog posts on, and found this sad site, the Old Partagas factory.  I was really hoping to get a tour of it, but it was closed to renovations when I was there.  The Cubans claimed they were restoring it, but I did not see any work being done.  With my experience working with architects and contractors, better to just raise it and build new at this point.  All things have a life span, and salt air can really shorten that life.

Anyway, February is always a slow time of year for me, and I am thinking about trying to put together a photography workshop in Havana next year to help fill my winter gap.  Something simple, 4 or 5 days, maybe with a day trip out to Pinar Del Rio for landscape work.  You think there would be an interest for this?

I’m sure there would. Sounds like a great idea. If I were free I’d definitely sign up. ?

I have a Canon 6D and a handful of lenses, but my iphone 8 plus takes decent enough photos that I haven't been bringing the camera out that often.  Here's a sample of what I have on my Instagram.

I know there are more than a few decent photographers on the site, so I thought it might be fun to start a photography thread.

I've recently got back into it after a long layoff - 20 years! - and, boy, how things have changed! Digital is whole new world for me.

So, whether you're a seasoned professional, or just a keen amateur, let's see your creations. Not just cigars - whatever takes your fancy.

Whether you've got all the latest digital gear, or nothing but a camera phone or a disposable camera, post away!

I'll get the ball rolling. This first one is a photo from a few months ago of a Sancho Panza Corona Gigante from November 99, taken in my local pub.

Nikon D750, Nikkor 24-120mm f4.0 lens at 120mm, 1/500s at f9.0, ISO 200:-

This is the old Skansens Fire Station, in Bergen, where I'm currently working.

Taken earlier today, with the same camera and lens. 28mm, 1/80s at f9.0, ISO 100:-

And the last is the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, taken on my old iPhone about 5 years ago, and messed about with using an app. Oggl, I think, but I can't remember:-

Whatever your ability and equipment, I look forward to seeing your images. Happy snapping!

All the best,

Iain

love the memorial one. i have an old pic in an album somewhere - film days - where i went down there on veterans' day before dawn. incredibly moving. i have a pic taken from a very similar spot (yes, this would have worked better if i could have found it) but the reflection is the monument and it was such a perfectly still morning that it looks for all the world like their are twin monuments. you can hardly see the memorial even though it is the reflecting surface.

Great thread!  Enjoyed all the pics.  I've been a hobbyist landscape photographer for close to 20 years now.  Not always fun to lug a camera/tripod around the wilderness, but I love capturing the beauty of nature.

I need to try out more slow exposures. I really like the pinks and magentas in this.

Cheers Ken! I also found it to be a wonderfully moving memorial. And I felt the Korean Memorial was very haunting. Took this pic of it. iPhone again, and some editing app. I forget which.
