Popular Post Ken Gargett Posted March 9, 2018 Popular Post Posted March 9, 2018 i saw a fabulous water dragon on the log near where the platypus was. went out to take a pic. the creek is still in mild flood mode so no platypus of course, but i happened to look over the railing directly below. quietly dozing away, a carpet python. i have had them up to 13 feet long on the balcony. i don't think this one is quite that long, though not far short, but i have never seen one anywhere in australia as fat as this one. it has obviously eaten reasonably recently but the bizarre thing is that, although the main bulge can be seen (not so easy on the pics), the rest of the bulge extends about five feet. some on either side of the main bump. i cannot work out what it is, unless it is several feeds recently but that seems unlikely. i guess it could be keen to feed up for winter. the main bulge is probably a possum but no idea about the rest - unless it was another python that was also fat but shorter. that happens. trying to downsize the pics so i can load them (no problem a few weeks ago until rob fiddled with my computer). 5 1
thedame007 Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 It’s like a nature reserve at your place... perhaps someone needs to inform the National Geographic and they could run a special from ‘Ken’s Eden’ ...
Ken Gargett Posted March 9, 2018 Author Posted March 9, 2018 i walked out before to take another look - it could easily be there for several days. nope. moved on. left a large flattened area in he bushes. doors have been shut firmly. 1
IPORTER Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 You're very lucky Ken to have such a wide array of wildlife on your doorstep.
gweilgi Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Maybe the python ate another python that ate a possum ... Either way, your little posts are not exactly making the job any easier for the Queensland Tourism Board...
fitzy Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 wow it's the Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom at Ken's house. Ken here in the states people like to keep those carpet pythons as pets. I assume people in Australia must do the same? Do you have any neighbor cats or small dogs you can feed it?
etakmit Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Awesome and concerning at the same time. I don't blame you for firmly shutting the doors!!

Do you have any neighbor cats or small dogs you can feed it? no. or at least very few and not legally. at least i think it is illegal. perhaps with permits. they are, in general, relatively docile but they can get very grumpy. one bit my cousin. he stood on it. my only neighbour has a few guinea fowl. although i have not seen them lately.

MoeFOH Posted March 9, 2018 Posted March 9, 2018 Maybe it ate the bird that was attacking your water bottles.
