Thumbs up or thumbs down?

I think it looks great except for the Cohiba moniker :D

......and it looks like the HSA marketing department had its 2 cents worth by putting the words "extra special" in. :rotfl:

Outside of those two things.....a beautiful Pilot watch.

We get a Cohiba logo that you need a jeweler's loupe to see and a vaguely Cohiba-esque color scheme that isn't a strong enough design element to say "Cohiba" to you unless Cohiba is already on your mind because you're looking closely enough to see the tiny logo.

I wouldn't want something garish, mind you, but for me it's not enough. Cohiba has the benefit of an amazing visual/packaging design history that could provide the aesthetic direction for some really nice, elegant products but, to my mind, this watch just isn't taking advantage of it. If I was considering a Cohiba-themed watch, I'd want something that really suggested the deco look of classic Cohiba design.

For someone who doesn't like watches, it's a strange thing; the black strapped version looks naff to me, but with that brown strap...I really like it! In fact it's the first time I've ever seen a watch and wanted one :S

Something Cohiba and it's understated and classy... what's going on?!

When I see a watch I instantly know if like it , love it or meh. In this case meh.

Thumbs down.

I adore bronze cases, and I like the Zenith pilot's watches, but this is just a marketing exercise aimed at the cigar collector's magpie mentality, IMO.

I like the groovy retro style of the the thing, but will forever vote "no" on vanity branding.  "Breitling for Bentley?" Bah!  A Cohiba watch?  Like they know anything about watches.  How about Rolex making a cigar?  Sheesh, silly stuff like this and the next thing you know Jayzee will be trying to make a stogie . . . :P

But the El Laguito engraving. Hits the soft spot hahaha. I guess it all boils down to price point. At 6000-8000 USD the Chronograph with the legendary El Primero movement inside would represent excellent value.

Unsure about the rose gold one. It'll most likely be over 5 figures.

I don't understand why Zenith doesn't drop the Behike watch in 3 bezel sizes, from womens 52, mens medium 54, and mens look-at-me 56. Straps can be partnered with Elie Bleu for that lattice-pattern leather or metal links. I guess I should work in advertising.

Or maybe Habanos is 5 steps ahead, using Zenith crap watches as advertisement to other watch houses to release the Behike with a marginally better house, like...Hublot (ugh)!

I think it's unfair to say that Zenith are crap, they're rather storied and their chronograph movements are highly respected

Also there is no need to 'advertise' to Hublot as they're both owned by the same company and JC Biver is personally taking care of both brands, Hublot being the brand he built up and Zenith being the current brand he is focusing on.

Everyone has a right to their opinion. I stand by my opinion that I think the brand is not for me, given my own experiences and knowledge.

Rolex used Zenith movements for their Daytona for years

Rolex has zero appeal for me either, so that makes sense.

I do own a Zenith and I do wear it rather often. They're probably what I wear 50% of the time. Sadly it's not the El Primero movement that is so lauded after.

Not impressed. From a design motif point of view, there isn't enough going on that is "Cohiba" related.  Understated; some might say.  I say underwhelmed.  Their previous incarnation looked a lot better. And if they were going for a retro look, they could have incorporated the original logo and fonts in somehow.  An engraving of El Laguito on the back, while cool, is wasted.

Get rid of all of the text on the face (outside of the numbers - i love that font) and then its a solid watch - but otherwise a thumbs down from me
