El Presidente Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 A mate of mine in the UK was waxing lyrical about these cigars (as the closest thing to Cubans that he had tasted) and he put the owners in touch with myself. They graciously sent a sample pack of cigars. I finished the last one on the weekend (a Danny Mac). My favourite of all was the Meridien. Certainly one of the better NC's that I have had and along with Hamlet's 25th Anniversary cigar, the most Cuban"esq" of the NC's that I have smoked. Nice work! For others that have tried them, let us know your thoughts 1
Cigar Surgeon Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 > I finished the last one on the weekend (a Danny Mac). Daddy Mac I believe brother, unless that's one of those Australian accent things ... Comes out of the Espinosa La Zona factory in Esteli, who in my opinion have been making some of the best rated cigars in the past few years. Most of the C&A stuff is right up my alley personally.

mrretrohale Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I was gifted a bunch of cigars from a friend who attended the big smoke. The Daddy Mac was one of the few that stood out, I've been trying to find them in sampler packs before plunging in to a box buy. Very enjoyable smokes, beautiful construction but seemingly hard to find as they are "boutique" cigars.
Danimalia Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I've had most of them and I believe I enjoyed Daddy Mac the most. Will revisit the Meridien. To be honest I can't recall which ones tasted like what as it's been a while. The new version of the Espinosa Habano is a great smoke, too, and a relative bargain. When the 601s first came out, I used to smoke the red labels a lot. They were very great and tasted quite Cuban for Nicaraguans. Been meaning to revisit them since they made the top 25 and are now made by AJ Fernandez. Back in the day they were made by Pepin/My Father. 1

Very reasonably priced Nicaraguan boutique cigars. Interesting. I'm working through a 5er of the perfectos, and to me they're high octane Nicaragua all the way through. Lots of pepper and earth. I like them a lot, though. I've been working through a bundle of the regular CroMag which are also great, but I may like the Aquitane version better
cigcars Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 *What do you all think of Espinoza's Laranja cigars with the orange and white band? To me that one was really near "Cubanesque" in flavor! I also have some RomaCraft Aquitaine cigars on the way too - I believe I chose the Knuckle Dragger (or CroMagnon - one or the other). 1
finecigar Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 C&A is a solid company offering excellent smokes. Not only that but they are run by some of the nicest people. Had a pleasure of meeting them and smoking at IPCPR last summer. Look forward to seeing them again and anticipating their new releases. 1

Yeah, the Larranja, I think. I had one a couple years ago, and liked it. Need to try it again. Pretty rare for a cigar to have a Brazillian Habano-seed wrapper, though I believe the Cornelius & Anthony Daddy Mac also has one, I think the Knuckle Dragger is just one of the vitolas for the CroMagnon and CroMagnon Aquitane. The Aquitane is the same binder and filler, but it has an Ecuadorian Habano ligero wrapper, while the regular version is CT Broadleaf ligero. Both excellent cigars, IMO. 1
