Popular Post JohnS
Greetings dear friends! After much coaxing by my dear pal, Jason (@jay8354) over some time, I've decided to give video reviewing a 'crack' over the upcoming Australian summer holiday season. I thought the exemplary 2017 Xmas Sampler would be a good source to share some knowledge of these fine cigars offered by El Presidente for the benefit of our members. I'd like to say that speaking 'on-the-fly' about cigars is certainly a challenge and I will need to acknowledge errors throughout this series (so bare with me). Also, please feel free to share your thoughts on these cigars in this thread, especially as they are the best of 2017. If you have views or opinions contrary to what has been stated, please feel welcome to express your thoughts and say so, after all, my own views here is intended to serve as a guide. The main goal of this series is to look at the question, "Why would you as a cigar enthusiast reach for this particular cigar? Or, what circumstances or situation suits each particular cigar in the 2017 Christmas Sampler series?" 14
Popular Post JohnS
1. Montecristo Petit Edmundo – SGA DIC 16 In this review, it's the Vegueros Entretiempos that I was meant to be referencing!
Popular Post JohnS
2. Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 – MEL FEB 17 In this review, I meant to state that the Juan Lopez Seleccion No.1 and No.2 have been around since the 1990's, not the Juan Lopez marca itself which was first founded in the 1870's.
Popular Post JohnS
3. Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 1 – TOS MAY 17 I'd like to an extend my thanks to our dear friend @Luca for joining me for this review (and bringing his Fez!). This cigar was certainly a pleasant surprise. I meant to state "Saint Luis Rey Serie A" in this review, definitely not "San Luis Rey Serie A"!

Islandboy
Well done! I watched these while smoking my Don Alejandro, followed by my Petit Edmundo. I’m completely with you on the PE, pleasant but young tasting. The nutty chocolate is definitely there. I must admit, I prefer the HdM PR in this format, only because I really like brown sugar sweetness over chocolate in my cigars. Keep ‘em coming gents. Cheers!

JohnS
Thanks everyone for your replies! I look forward to doing the Punch Punch 48 this week and discussing it in comparison to the regular production Punch Punch and also doing the Cohiba Esplendidos. We'll have another guest to join me this week, so I'm looking forward to that too. My teenage daughter saw the videos and subscribed to my channel. "Good videos Dad! I don't what you are talking about in regards to the cigars though!"

Popular Post JohnS
5. Punch Punch 48 – TOS NOV 16 In this review I referred to the size of the Punch Punch 48 being an Hermosos No.3 (i.e 48 ring gauge x 140 mm) of which there have only been 4 special releases. In the midst of discussing these I erred by referring to them as Hermosos No.4s. I also mention that Hermosos No.4s (48 ring gauge x 127 mm) are a more common regular production cigar, and off the top of my head I remembered the Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion No.4, the Saint Luis Rey Regio and Por Larranaga Picadores. Of course, there is also the El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme, the H.Upmann Connoisseur No.1 and the Vegas Robaina Famosos. This cigar was a good cigar and its dominant flavour was roasted peanuts, which continued throughout until I finished it. There are differences, in my opinion, to the regular production Punch Punch (a Coronas Gordas at 46 ring gauge x 143 mm). 6
99call
Thanks for putting in all this effort John, It's slightly unnerving watching a FOH video with things like, facts etc.............this is wholly un-orthadox, bring back the personal abuse and slap-stick comedy!!. Bravo
David88
Great review again John, very informative. I have a box tucked away in the OLH and I’m looking forward to taking them out some time next year now.

Bravo I'm very confident that the reviews planned this weekend will rectify this, most probably at my expense! 3 hours ago, David88 said: Great review again John, very informative. I couldn't believe I went almost 15 minutes on this one, but it is a new release and the question of comparison to the regular production Punch Punch has come up on our forum so it warranted extended discussion. I needed to add that 2015 and 16 Punch Punch has been excellent generally young, and for me surprisingly so, before this, I was inclined to rest my Punch Punch much longer which is why I have some from '14 in my humidor, from a split, still resting.
