@JLFIRST you’ll definitely have to put in a handful or regional/els to make up for that gr, but the high put:take ratio is always good for the box, lol! I’m planning about a 2:1 put:take ratio myself ?

@Cfc1016 I'm not really concerned with the GR my friend. I had one before and gifted it to a great BOTL. There are so many great cigars in this box pass that it won't be hard to find things I like. I do believe it needs some things with over 20 years age on them. I can help with one or two there. I'm just happy to be able to play a part in the greatness that it is.

Wow, I actually debated getting in on this newbie box pass before it started. Now I’m glad I didn’t because I don’t own that many cigars yet, so I wouldn’t be able to trade for anything special in there.

Well, maybe I’ll try in a couple of years down the road!

Yeah I’ve been thinking about this. I know the natural tendency (of which I too am guilty) in a box pass is to outdo the quality/quantity of your takes with that of your puts. With the overwhelming quality/quantity of sticks in the box right now, and tbe spirit of this pass in mind though...

 

why don’t we give an explicit pass to the real newbies? Put in what ya got, and take a few sticks that, although much higher quality/rarity (excepting that GR, for example, of course lol) sticks that they wouldn’t have had a chance to lay their hands on otherwise. The heavy hitters have really beefed this thing up. Why don’t we make sure some of that good fortune gets redistributed to the less fortunate?

I think there is; if you look back, many members have taken some aged sticks and placed in nice cigars for sure but not aged they put in what they had.  There are of course some cigars still in the pass which are from 2016-2017.  So I believe there is a wide range for brothers to choose from.

That was the whole point of this pass though - to let newbies broaden their horizons, without feeling like they had to contribute top notch sticks to get involved. Many people just go above and beyond, lol.

To tangent off this idea, if the really new guys speak up and let us know that they are new and don't have much or any variety/aged stock, I'm sure they will get offers via pay it forward. I've been helped out by so many members, and never asked to have things sent to me. I'm sure more than a few of us here wouldn't bat an eye over sending a 5 pack of various stuff that's smoking good to a true newbie.

Sorry if I started any controversy. That wasn't my intention.

When the thread for the signup came up, I was excited. But at the time I only had a 10 cigar sampler I bought off the store. None of them would have caused much joy among the other participants. Plus I only had one of each, so putting them in the pass would have defeated the purpose I bought them for: sampling the cigars!

Since then I got some more cigars. Go figure.

Some Regionals and also a box of ELs. Maybe for the next box pass I'd be in a better position to join in.

I did some re-organizing...

 

I homogenized the formatting to - Marca Vitola: XXX XXX XX (factory month year - just did year when not applicable, and special notes such as 'trade', 'psp', 'unk. code' etc, where applicable)

I corrected spelling errors.

I alphabetized the cubans by Marca, then Vitola.

I chronologically ordered by year, then month (where applicable) of production.

Where items were listed 'BBF SOM SEP 16 x2' I reformatted that to 2 distinct line entries of 'Bolivar Belicosos Finos: SOM SEP 16'. I felt the very sporadic 'x2' or 'x3' was easy to overlook in further inventory taking so I obviated the practice.

I put the custom rolls (Alex and Johnny O) at the end, just to keep them separate from the Habanos Marcas.

 

The only thing that hurt my eyes/brain worse than looking at that original list was going through the process of reformatting it. That took about 90 minutes. My eyes burn and my carpals are tunneled .

 

Anyone with the patience... please run through the two lists side by side and check my work. I double checked it, but like I said - my eyes are burning. I could potentially have overlooked something.

 

I will confirm this against the actual contents, *in hand* upon my receipt of the box, and update the inventory once again after my puts/takes are approved and I send the box down the line.
