mwaller Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 I see that the trading forum does not allow 'for sale' ads. Is there another trustworthy place to sell off your extra boxes and sticks? Thanks!

Profmd Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Good post, you beat me to it! Was going to ask the same question. Used to sell on Kijiji, but new policies on the Canada site won't let that happen anymore.
Popular Post El Presidente Posted November 30, 2017 Popular Post Posted November 30, 2017 We will have a facility to do so mid next year. it will be member to member only however. 27 3
steelcity Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Are we allowed to offer up trades? No money exchanged, just what two members think is a fair trade. I have a box, minus 2, that I don’t particularly care for but I know other members think highly of these.

However given the recent scams that have been going on in some facebook sites, how is one protected (if they can be) outside of caveat emptor? Particularly in relation to aged stock? Being a Private Group may offer protection but a Private group requires vetting (I assume)? Yes Rob. You are 1,000% correct. I am keeping the list very tight. Not looking for 1,000 schmucks to be involved in this group like the other asshat spots that are just a churn and burn operation. The big SCAM (that you were clued in on) was the BHK bullshit that went down... 1

The big SCAM (that you were clued in on) was the BHK bullshit that went down... There have been plenty mate. Vintage, Davidoff/Dunhill/books etal. The Behike was just the last but you know as well as I that those boxes are hardly going to be destroyed. They will likely be sold and sold again. Don't get me wrong. The secondary market is great for vendors as it just increases the pie. It does however attract every charlatan like a moth to flame. You need to be very clued in to safely participate in the more "attractive" offerings. You will still get burnt from time to time. 7
BarryNY Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Thank you and I agree Rob. Actually, as you probably can tell from the numbers - I buy 99% of everything I own from you LOL....or if I'm lucky - the occasional private collection that I happen to come across that is not being promoted.... But I am aging lots of boxes and will throw up a fiver so someone else can get a taste of a 3-5 year old vitola. 4

That offers exactly zero protection from scams. Remember the guy on OLH that had a stellar reputation and then decided to do an "exit scam"? I'm not saying that there is no use for a marketplace but caveat emptor applies, no matter what. 7

Got caught up in that one myself and got burned. "Secret" groups with "exclusive" invites are a huge red flag. If you're just looking for a 5'er, you might be ok. If you're looking to buy HTF stuff, proceed at your own risk. 2
Popular Post LordAnubis Posted December 1, 2017 Popular Post Posted December 1, 2017 Friends! The best thing about cigars is the company. And there are plenty of friends who are happy to buy cigars that I don’t like as my palate/smoking habits change. But I don’t flip to mates, just pass them on at what they cost me. I’m not in this hobby to make a buck. That’s a whole different question really, I think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 9
