El Presidente Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 If people enjoy flavoured cigars.....good on them! However, the most "out there" flavoured cigars......how do they taste?....is their such a thing as a quality, enjoyable flavoured cigar? The below Nub Nuance Fall Harvest Pumpkin Spice by Oliva comes to mind. Someone here must have smoked one. let us know what it was like. More generally, let us know of your flavoured cigar experiences? 1
Puros Y Vino Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Back in 2010,when I was still just getting into cigars. I picked up a couple of Rocky Patel/Drew Estates Java Toros IIRC. It was a 58RG box pressed monster. Supposedly infused with coffee, it smelled great cold. However, when I started smoking it, things turned bad, quickly. My fingers were getting stained and to my horror, my lips. The flavour was not really coffee like at all. The aroma was ok, but there was no way I was going to soldier through this horror show. I quickly dropped it into the ashtray to let it die out slow like it deserved to. I then went to wash my fingers, lips, face, soul, etc. I think I lit up a PSD4 to cleanse myself afterwards. So, in short. Never again will I light up a flavoured cigar. As bad as this experience was, it comes second to smoking a NC Partagas Black Label. That was a near death experience. 1 1
oakalley Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Never been a fan of flavored cigars. First off, like the previous poster stated, the flavor is only in the smell when unlit. After firing it up, it goes downhill. I believe this is and attempt by cigar manufacturers to pass off cigars rolled with inferior tobacco by touting different flavors. I would bet that a lot of older cigar smokers here in the USA, in their youth tried Swisher "Sweets" which were about the equivalent of rolled up Corn shucks, soaked in sugar water, dried and packaged. Fuzz Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 I still have not had the urge to try the Key Lime flavoured cigars I picked up in Key West last October. I can tell you that they definitely do smell like Key Limes. 1 1
polarbear Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Oh god. Pumpkin Spice Cigars now!? We are living in interesting times, it would seem... I've always had a love/hate relationship with flavoured/infused cigars I hate them but most of my mates love them The Acid line by Drew Estate has pushed a few of my non cigar mates closer to the lifestyle as they're bold and sweet while still being of decent quality, personally, they taste like Musk Sticks to me and that's not something I like in my tobacco I've had a few beer a spirit infused sticks over the years. They've ranged from passable to pretty awful. Java by Rocky Patel is a coffee/chocolate infused cigar. Pretty sure theyre made by Drew Estate as well. I used to date a girl who really enjoyed them. I bought a 5'er on a Lark and gave one to her one night. I didn't care for them but the coffee sweetness the cigar provided was right up here alley. She'd smoke one or two a month. 1
KRunch61 Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Much like Boones Farm was with wine, the infused cigars are often the "gateway" to the Promised Land...CCs!
CaptainQuintero Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 I love the fire cured stuff, Toscano Classico etc but they aren't in the artificially flavoured group. Still tobacco but richer with a sticky date core. Great change of pace cigar 3
RazorbackFan Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 My wife used to pick up a few of the Java by Rocky Patel sticks when we’d hit the local B&M, but I tried them and they weren’t my thing. At all.
gweilgi Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Everyone's mileage may vary, but IMHO ... flavoured cigars are like flavoured coffee, or like adding cordial to beer -- WHY? What's the point of making one thing taste like another? If I want something that tastes of coffee, what's wrong with getting a cup of coffee to go with my cigar?
Danimalia Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 I haven't smoked any in years, but I used to enjoy the Drew Estate/Rocky Patel Javas. I haven't had the Nub Cafes, but I suspect they're probably the best of the best, just because they're made by Oliva. Because I don't care for the sizes, I don't smoke the regular Nubs very often, but they're pretty good. I had a Deadwood cigar by Drew Estate a couple of months ago, and the wrapper tasted like a dang sugar cone in my mouth. I thought it was exceedingly mediocre, though I didn't really find it offensive.
BellevilleMXZ Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Pumpkin spice??? F that ......pumpkin is only good in pie! 1
PabloJr Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 I've had the isla del sol and tabak especial from Drew in the past. It's been a long while since I tried them. I was still trying to find what I liked and it wasn't that they were that horrible, but there was nothing spectacular that stood out about them outside of the the teeth itching sweet coating they put on the wrapper. Def not my cup of tea and even tho that pumpkin spice stick raised my eyebrow, it would just be the same as the others: sweet coating on the outside, boring and bland smoke on the inside.Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
zeedubbya Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 It's shocking to see sales numbers on flavored cigars. Drew Estate (swisher now I guess) making a ton of money off infused still. I was at a cigar event a couple years back and they were throwing Kuba Kuba and Blondies into the crowd and people were smoking them up. And apparently the Tabak Especial is a perennial top seller in cigar shops. I don't care for them but I see how people could like them.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ElPuro Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Don't believe I've ever had one, but not in a position to judge. Lots of folks look down on us "non-flavored" cigar smokers, too. Let's absorb the stare, not pass it on. 1
Sean3 Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Once upon a time, a long long time ago...I tried an Acid Kuba Kuba based on a recommendation. Mind you, I didn't even know they were flavored so had no preconceptions...it was the most disgusting, god awful dog rocket I've ever smoked! 1
Engineer99 Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Years ago, at one of the B&M's I patronize, I asked to see one of the Drew Estate blue label infused smokes they kept in quarantine behind the counter in their own humidor world. It smelled like cheap cologne. My desire to explore anything infused died that moment.

JR Kipling Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 When I first got back into cigars after a long absence, out of curiosity I tried numerous flavored cigars. I found them all to be horrible. There are aromatic pipe tobaccos that are quite nice to smoke. They have a pleasant taste and aroma. I don't know why this isn't the case when it comes to flavored cigars. JBFurdog Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Kentucky Fire Cured by Drew Estate is the only flavored cigar I have ever had. It was an enjoyable experience. Now, who wants some grape white owls?

Haha, just saw an article that said most pumpkin pie isn't. It can be any squash that resembles pumpkin. I've enjoyed a few Acid cigars. Interesting flavors and pleasing smell to the smoke. Not a go-to or regular enjoyment, but not something I'd throw rocks at if it was offered to me. 3
JR Kipling Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Many years ago when I was a 20-something kid, I would smoke the occasional Swisher Sweet. Usually it was when out with my mates and drinking lots of beer. Out of nostalgia, I bought a pack of them about a year ago. I could only tolerate 3 puffs before I threw it in the ashtray. Absolutely awful thing. Strange chemical taste and sub-par tobacco. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
kwsaw63 Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 I've tried a couple of flavoured cigars (Acid and something else) and I'm still trying to eradicate the memory of them from my brain cells. Horrible is too mild a word to use! 2 1
