Popular Post JohnS Posted October 12, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2017 Great idea El Pres! I have had a number of excellent, highly-rated cigars in 2017. The two I chose are below, the TOS Mar 16 Diplomaticos No.2 (cinnamon, nutmeg, almond and toasted tobacco flavours) and OBM Jun 16 Partagas Lusitania (light espresso coffee, sourdough, mild leather flavours). The reason I chose these two, and not others (such as the exemplary Diplomaticos Bushidos and H.Upmann 56 LE, for example) was because they delivered 'from-the-box' time and time again in their flavours and consistent construction (I also had more of them to compare) and I believe ultimately this is what makes a cigar-smoking experience highly satisfying. 9
Popular Post planetary Posted October 12, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2017 I am compelled to nominate the H. Upmann Connie A. Nuts, sweet cream, and a deep richness which eludes my meager fluency with flavor descriptors. Excellent luck with construction, to boot. I've smoked from LUB MAR/APR 15, from our host, consistently scoring in the 90s for me. 8
Wilzc Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 JAN 017 Montecristo Petit Edmundo. Young But so much milk chocolate cookie 1
Popular Post mkz Posted October 12, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2017 Quai-d-orsay Coronas. Boxcode ULA FEB 15, ETP MAY 16, ETP MAR 16... You can pick any year and date. For me these has been consistently good from 2010 and onwards. Always great construction. The same great taste. Aging perfectly. The perfect size and the perfect blend. All in my humble opinion. 7
David88 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 H Upmann Connie A - I’ve had Connie As from a few different box codes and have never failed to be impressed by them. I’m not a fan of the ring gauge, or the price, but each one has smoked perfectly with little to no time resting. RnJ cazadores - I can’t remember the exact code but I’m pretty sure it was MOE jun 15. I think these are highly underrated cigars anyway but all the ones from this box I have had have been stellar. Big powerful flavour, not too complex but I don’t think it needed to be. I also love opening a box to see them foil wrapped, it’s like opening a surprise! 1
GrouchoMarx Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 OF COURSE I'm going to nominate Romeo y Julieta Capuleto 2016 Ltd Edition (SOM SEP 16). Its just an all-around fine cigar. IMHO a perfect 90 minute smoke. 3
foursite12 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Trinidad Vigia SLE May 15. Despite its ridiculous size, a truly fine cigar. Med-full, with a unique flavor profile. Complex, yet smooth. It's not often that one sees the words "Trinidad" and "consistent" within 20 feet of each other but these have been remarkably so. The equally ridiculous price almost causes me to not include the Vigia as a nominee but it is that good. Punch Punch BMS Ago 15. Lots of great cigars in this vitola but I'm partial to these flavors and the PP seems to have acquired a bit of the vintage taste a bit sooner than some of the competitors. Simply delicious and smoking extremely well right now. They have been "on" for at least 3 years now (14, 15 and 16 that I know of) out of multiple factories, which is remarkable and provides a window that is almost mistake proof for buyers. 4
Doctorossi Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I don't think I've had anything from a 2015 or newer box code yet, so I'm completely unqualified.

ComancheKeen Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Hate to admit it, but the Magnum 56 (TOS DIC 15) has been unbeatable for me in terms of flavour and consistency in this last year. Definitely a much larger cigar than I normally smoke (Petit Corona/Corona Gorda/Robusto are my ideal sizes), and the price is absurd, but I am very glad I invested in a box to smoke through over the next several years. My other top performer this year has been HdM Du Prince (RAE AGO 15). I'll admit I am not much of a Hoyo fan and I smoke fewer Hoyos than any other brand. They just aren't my jam. This box of Du Prince is straight up ugly. Light, spotty wrappers with zero sheen to them, but every one of them has been lights out. Even though they are now discountinued I will enjoy every last one of them and have no regrets doing so. 2
Akela3rd Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Monte Petit Edmundo AMU FEB 16. Sweet milk chocolate, perfect draw, most relaxing cigar I own. Takes my fevered brain to a good place.Partagas D4 PET NOV 15. Strong and smooth, consistently good box, not a single dud with only 4 to go.Thunder & Lightening '75-'15

Philc2001 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Have to nominate the Monte no. 1 (BUM ABR 15), so intoxicatingly divine. Another Winner has been the PLMC (TOS JUN 16), surprisingly flawless construction and smoking so smooth and tasty, it's a value leader.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
Popular Post zeedubbya Posted October 12, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2017 H Upmann Connie A RAE JUN15 and Cohiba Siglo 2 RAE JUN15. Same code, same month and year. Both absolutely perfect examples of each cigar in every way. Connie A is all rich toasted tobacco and that Upmann spice and shortbread--delicious. The Siglo 2 is Sweet Cream, slightly grassy, citrusy awesomeness! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 6

Wailbait Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 I have enjoyed PLPC and Diplomatico 2. The most enjoyable examples have been TOS.
Raskol Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 H. Upmann Connie A - MEG SEP 16 Juan Lopez No. 2 - SEA JUL 16 Nice flavors all round & consistency. 2
Guest Nekhyludov Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 1) ROM ENE 16 HUSW. I know it's a crime to smoke these young, but I just couldn't help cracking the box. "Establishing a baseline" is how I justify it They've been stunning. 2) MUL JUL 15 Parti Lusi. For my money, the absolute epitome of what a Cuban cigar should be.
Popular Post Jfeath74 Posted October 13, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 13, 2017 Coro AGO 16 PSP is my favorite box of cigars. My only concern is I suck them all down before they get some age, they are too good and i can't resist. I ended up getting a clearance box to curve my temptation. Not sure if that makes sense, but i figure the only thing better then a box of CORO is two boxes of CORO! Clearance or PSP, both great! They have different shades of wrappers and less sheen on the clearance, but both have the same flawless construction, perfect draws and full flavored Cohiba goodness all day! Connie A DIC 15 PSP gives CORO a run for its money every time. I haven't had as many A's as i have CORO but each one has been progressively better and the most recent one i smoked was near blissful. Similar to the CORO, the Connie A's have had impeccable construction, often perfect draw and a full flavored smoke where the description above of "nuts and sweet cream" fits nicely. Each cigar has frequent PSP/HQ offerings on 24:24 leading me to believe these vitola's are above the curve on what is coming out of Havana. Now I may be bias given these were two of the boxes i extended my budget to reach for and although anticipation was sky high, neither of these cigars have yet to disappoint, I think that about says it all! 6
Popular Post Winchester21 Posted October 13, 2017 Popular Post Posted October 13, 2017 Here are my two choices 1 Cohiba Magiicos Maduro 5 Unfortunately they don't come up that often but trust me...They will knock your socks offf Its a shame they are so scarce and expensive. Worth every penny 2 Cohiba Medio Siglo. I will most likely get hate mail over this one but this has been my go to cigar this year after they were introduced. With COROs so damn hard to come by in the higher quality grades these have been a great substitute. Most of the offerings have been PSP/HQ and well deserving of the high grades. The large ring gauge provides great taste and complexity without having to dedicate 90 minutes to the process. I highly reccomend this cigar in spite of its high price 5
