El Presidente Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Last weekend, Di and I were watching The Magnificent Seven (John Sturges’ 1960 film starring Yul Brynner, Charles Bronson, and Steve McQueen). I haven't seen the movie in over a decade. Brilliant. Halfway through the movie I turned to Di and said "I feel like a Marlboro" Di said she felt like one as well....and she hasn't smoked for 24 years. Now people....that is subliminal advertising at its best 2
Fugu Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Thanks for the reminder, Rob! Great movie, but it's a classic DC-film for me.
ElPuro Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Product placement is unfortunately becoming all the more obvious these days. Probably good that cigs cannot be included. I have a relative who was a relative big wig with Philip Morris. I still remember walking into their corporate HQ as a teen. There were pictures of the Marlboro Men, and my uncle (who never smoked) made sure to point out that many had died due to smoking.
ebhead Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Man, I could use a Marlboro right about now.
cigcars Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 * I remember being told years ago that the C.E.O. of the national pork industry here in the states (an insanely rich dude) does NOT consume his own product. He knows how unhealthy eating pork is. Likewise, I remember watching the late great Alan King during his stand-up routine talking about how all the Chrysler executives were driving Toyotas! Of Course one or more of the big wigs in the cigarette industry don't smoke their own product. Who has more info about their product but refuses to keep rose colored glasses on in their own behalf - the way advertising asks us gullible consumers to do? 1 1
anacostiakat Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Great movie! But didn't the Marlboro Man die of lung cancer?
madandana Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 I love lazy weekend days to lay around and watch old movies (when it's to crappy to go outside). Saw Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid this weekend. Somehow all movies make me want to smoke a cigar and have a cocktail ????????
ayepatz Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Gave up cigarettes 21 years ago. The only one I miss is the one you have with a mug of tea, after a fantastic motorcycle ride. 1
TBird55 Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 I have often wondered, if you incorporated this in 24 24. ?
cigaraholic Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 When ever I watch that movie I always feel like having a Monte Especial
