Popular Post CrankYanker Posted September 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted September 23, 2017 While we were in the Dominican Republic for 9 days, my wife and I decided to visit the Don Lucas Cigar Factory. It was pretty amazing to see some cigars being hand rolled. The tour was free and they came to pick us up in a shuttle. When we got off of the shuttle we were greeted by Andres who asked what kind of cigars we smoked. My wife got a medium and I opted for the medium-full. We were taken to the tables to watch the cigars rolled, pressed then wrapped. Felt a cigar at 85% RH. On a regular production day they roll up to 1500 cigars that is with around 5 tables in use. He took us into one of the three humidors on site which they keep at 17 degrees Celsius and varies between 65-70% RH. After the humidor they took us up to the sales humidor where they had Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Cuban cigars. We bought some stuff we couldn't get back at home (DR stuff). They also had a rum, chocolate and coffee place in the area. Very fun time while on vacation. Enjoy the pictures! PS the Cubans were very expensive. We found a box of Fundis for $880 US. 6 1
Guest Nekhyludov Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Great pics, @CrankYanker! Looks like you had a nice time. Glad to hear you only bought Dominicans and didn't buy any of those cellophane-wrapped "Cubans"
madandana Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 Great tour. We did it then smoked one as we drank a bunch of beers at the little bar outside. Thanks for sharing your photos

I met these Americans who said they were able to score these Cohiba Cubans for $30 and I just said well those are fake after I took one look at them. They wouldn't sell singles from the big humidor but they did in the smaller one in the rum bar!
CrankYanker Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 I didn't bother with the Cubans there. I just stuck with the Dominican stuff as it was reasonably priced.
