Rustyman Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 What is the difference between the RyJ Turbo No.2 and the RyJ Mille Fleurs? They are both the same size and the same Marca but to me, the Mille Fleur is a much smoother smoke than the No.2. The No.2 is very woody and kind of harsh in the back of the throat. The Mille Fleur is definitely a RyJ but has both those two qualities to a much lesser extent. I might get a whiff of cherry from both, much more often from the Mille Fleur and neither to the same extent as the RyJ Petit Churchill which is a delicious little flavour bomb in the samples I have tried. Anyone who can give me more background information or experience on the difference between the two?
garbandz Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 living in a tube slows the development of a cigar,so a tubo will be more aggressive when young. The cedar insert will add a bit of flavor/aroma to a tubo. good news is, tubos will have more good stuff at 5 years old. IMO......
WhiteMamba Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 They're both pretty cheap. The one thing to look out with on the tubos is mold. The RyJ tubos I had got mold so I took them out of the tube and rubbed them down and they have been fine. Also due to being in the tube they keep their round shape which in my opinion makes the draw better than being box pressed.
anjimj Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 never tried the Mille fluer, but I love my Tubos #2s. Hopefully get to try some petite and short churchills from here when they come up. 1
Rustyman Posted September 13, 2017 Author Posted September 13, 2017 Thanks for the feedback guys. So is the consensus that the Turbo 2 is the better option but needs downtime/rest to show its character?
Popular Post Smallclub Posted September 14, 2017 Popular Post Posted September 14, 2017 The Turbo increases power, improves combustion and reduces emissions of harmful substances… 3 2

Rustyman Posted September 15, 2017 Author Posted September 15, 2017 Just spotted that mistake. Made it consistently so not going to change it. To @Smallclub I just wished it did improve combustion although I must admit, in my experience it increased the emissions of harmful substances, at least to me. 1
CaptainQuintero Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 RyJ has a huge range of flavours, from a vegetative herbal nature, right across to rosehip sticky nougat sweet. Add in various woody notes and various strengths of coffees in and out along the range. I think it's more of a case of finding what you enjoy, chances are there is something within the RyJ stable for everyone 2

Some of my earliest smokes were RyJ Churchills and Petit Churchills. These were great. Especially the Petit Churchills although they offered different experiences. I therefore expected the No. 2's to offer a similar experience which it has not while the Mille Fleurs at least seems to be in the ballpark of my previous experiences. I think I simply have had a bad bunch of No.2's. These came from Schipol airport and I have had varying experiences with cigars purchased from there. I've also had a range of cigars from Sydney airport and must admit that some of these have also been less than great so it might be that the airport duty free might not be the best place to buy cigars, especially popular ones. 1

In the same, in not massively keen on the vegetative side, nor the black coffee notes. I'm much more into the sweeter berry fruits and sweet woods and milky coffee side. From memory these have been: Short Churchill Exhibition #4 Mille Fleur Tres Petit Corona Generally the Cedros line Churchill Wide Churchill The more red the wrapper the sweeter the notes seem to generally be All of the limited edition RyJ for me have been the very dark, almost expresso with burnt blackcurrent nature so haven't really enjoyed them.
Rustyman Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 Thanks @CaptainQuintero That's help considerably in improving my knowledge. I was looking for those sweeter flavours in the RyJ line and now I have a direction to explore. 1
