tsolomon Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Where is Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra or Bing Crosby? They missed way too many of the greats for this to be list to be valid. It isn't just a Rock and Roll list, and how does Bob Dylan get #7? 1
jazzboypro Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 This list is a joke for the mos part. I agree that a lot of them are very popular, but not necessarily great signers and definitely not among the best

How come John Foggarty as a spot on that list...Rod Stewart...Really ?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ken Gargett Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 yes, as big a fan as i am of dylan (and bruce, of course), no one is putting his bobness on a list for his great voice. and even bruce has admitted nothing special about his voice. it was one of the things which made him focus on his songwriting so heavily in the early days. curious list, at best.
Danimalia Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 It's a fine list as far as it goes. I think the rankings of rock and roll singers is mostly pretty good. That said, Billie Holliday isn't in the top twenty, but Bob Marley is? In fact, is Billie even on the list? Ella Fitzgerald? They got friggin' Morrison on here, but not Billie or Ella?! Prince is too high, Janis too low. Joe Cocker is too low. It is always easy to pick these lists apart though, and ultimately its subjective.
Danimalia Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 I will give them credit for getting Ronnie Spector on there. That is a solid pick, and would have been easy to overlook. Come on, I know y'all hear Be My Baby and start remembering Dirty Danc...., er, uh, Mean Streets. Yeah, that's what I meant, Mean Streets.
wabashcr Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 The list is "greatest singers," not best singing voices. If you read why they put Dylan on the list, it makes sense. It's because of his style, which proved hugely influential, not his voice. They seem to award points for uniqueness, innovation, and distinction. Seems fair. I would have probably put Marvin Gaye at the top of my personal list. He ticks all the boxes for me.
mash Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 If it's about best singers and not voices, they could have included Donald Fagen.
