Hi guys so i stuffed up and accidentally froze a box of RASCC for 14 days. In a big chest freezer gets cold.

I have put them in the fridge for a 24-48 hour thaw out. Not checked them yet.

What damage, if any, can i expect?

Make sure they r not in bags in the fridge

Why not?!

In fact, it's advisable to keep them sealed until the box reaches full storage temperature again in order to avoid condensing conditions.

I hope its ok - I have a bag of farmies that I picked up from my B&M that are coming out of the freezer today (zip-locked). Into the fridge overnight, then room temp, then into my humi.

When cigars in ziplocks are taken from freezer to refrigerator, condensation occurs in the refrigerator that gets the box/cigars wet in my experience

removing the bag between the freezer and refrigerator eliminates that risk

I freeze everything. Pick up a Foodsaver vacuum sealer, the titanium is one beautiful machine. 14 days is not going to hurt them, cigars are a lot more  resilient then you think.

Sorry mate,

the cut off time for avoiding irreparable damage from freezing is 13 1/2 days.....

Ok, I think I get what you mean - ice crystals that may have formed on the inner side of the bag during frosting? That may be an issue indeed (while sticks losing moisture). When that water thaws later on it can be wetting the box on the outside, sometimes even the cigars inside, when condensation of moisture occurred within the box - mostly unnoticed. Still, when going from cold to warm - freezer to fridge, fridge to room climate, condensation of air moisture that's not been blocked off will occur on the relatively colder box and cigars (depending on actual dewpoints of course). To avoid such one may repack the box into a new bag should there have ice crystals been formed within the freezer bag. Goes without saying that cigars need a period a acclimatization following that process.

I don't freeze, apart from the odd (rare) second hands, customs and direct imports.

I guess Rob's stock (PCC) doesn't need any freeze. Not sure here - is PCC freezing a second time after importing to its warehouses?

Why do y'all freeze your seegars?
And for those that do, how long in freezer then fridge?
I don't normally but this box had a handful of creepy crawlies. 99% they were woodmites not tobacco beetles but why take the chance.

There are charts online I think in this forum for times to kill beetles. Doesnt take long a day or 2 to be safe. It is then widely recommended to let them slowly thaw out in the fridge another day or 2.

Works great unless you forget

Keep N/C's out of the mix and I think it would be rare to get any beetles ist saying ?

I freeze my boxes in a chest freezer at 10 below zero Fahrenheit for 48 hours. In a sealed freezer bag. After that take the box out of freezer bag and sit out in room temp for 15 or 20 minutes. Then the box goes into my wood humidor cabinet. The refrigerator step is IMO unnecessary and I see no benefit as my cigars come out fine. No cracked wrappers, no damage whatsoever and they smoke just fine. And no worry of beetles.
