More from this particular fake factory,  looks like they just did exclusively Henry Clay, Montecristo.  Would love to find out if these were made at the time. i.e pre embargo,  or if they were a 1970s/later con.

This Spain/France pre embargo fake factory is booming.

It is only over the past few months that I have  come to understand the scale of the operation and how many people have been stung.

As told by the late great Simon Chase, he’d found references to counterfeit Cuban cigars going back to the late 19th century.

Do you think these particular fakes are from Europe Rob?  I'm referring only to this style of Monty and Henry Clay exclusively (as they seem to be from the same source), and are obviously not in the same category as the modern day re-boxing of original pre-embargo boxes.

I just off the bat assumed that these boxes were old school cuban beach-pusher specials

Apologies, I wasn't specifically addressing the box you pictured. I was referring to the world of maria guerrero et al pre embargo cigars being purchased from French and Spanish sources.

yep, rife sadly.    One thing that I've notice recently, which is quite a fun question to pose to sellers of 'sealed boxes'.     "Why do both sides of the box, have the edging tape severed?"  it's usually met with complete silence,  or abuse.

To allow the cigars to breathe, obviously.
