Zarges aluminum cases

I know a few other members have recommended these but didn't see a thread dedicated to this type of set-up.

 

Picked a couple up myself and will be transferring cigars/ boxes to them today. Tupperdores have been good to me but not I'm not in love with the look (yes, yes, it's about function, I know). Fortunately I have a very cool/stable environment in my basement so I'll send out some updates with how they are doing in the long haul. I plan to use large Bovedas (62%) to hopefully maintain a number right around there, if not slightly lower which I like. With my experience with humidity in my home, I may not even need those!

 

Would be great to hear other's experience with this particular brand of container.

Good stuff! There are a few discussions re Zarges. Alutec is another that seems to get high marks.

Great option to store. 

They seal very well. Use a few to store at a second location. Checked once or twice a year in the past. Now I leave them alone.

Essentially cubes. External dimensions ~ 23x23x24. They're about the volume of three 120 qt. marine coolers, when combined.

Do they have any type of smell when new? I've struggled for months getting the smell out of cooladors and a wineador. If these come with no smell or fuss I'm in

Sorry I am late to the party.  In Carmel with the fam on vacay. Smoked an incredible R&J Churchill today in the 65 degree weather.

Love my Zarges containers. They are rock solid and I use the 65% Bovedas. They two hold just over 3000 cigars. Highly recommended for those that don't require temperature control.

You need to seek help for hording tendencies sir, its a sickness  I have some 10+ year old RyJ Churchills with your name on them next time we meet up.

I have not noticed anything significant. There was a bit of an oily smell at first, but I wiped the inside down with some diluted dish soap/water then aired them out for several days. Now it's completely neutral when I open them - except for the smell of aging tobacco and cedar

Yeah, like a guy that buys 3,000 pieces of wrapped leaves that he plans to burn is concerned about a grand for two metal boxes.

Considering the overall cost of what will be stored inside, it is a drop in the bucket.

@SignalJoe  As you know I am beyond help but also have plenty to share including some you really liked.

I can also take solace in the fact that my hoarding pales in comparison to some of the other folks on this board.
