You have to have a chuckle :D

While I am not a Cognac drinker ...I appreciate that these Cognacs are excellent indeed.

However....while you may draw a "perfect" line between Red Dot Cohiba or Don Tomas to pond scum....you are stretching it making them a perfect match to any Cognac.

Cognac and Cigars

Posted

Bloggers (of all kinds) blog. I've pretty much found that cigar and drink "pairings" are usually subjective. I mean, there are heathens that drink red wine with cigars - crikey.

In this day and age, promoting cigars in any fashion is a plus.....

Where do you find these things?  :wink2:

.....my taste for wine has returned!

Call me a Neanderthal or heathen or just meat head, but I could taste the pretentiousness in that blog...like looking down on me and pointing from the deck of their 100 foot yacht pretentious!

Maybe it's just me...

I can't speak to the cognac, but some of those cigar recommendations are so egregious that it actually makes me think less of Graycliff as a company.

Some decent Cognacs there, pairings not so much.....

I'll admit to having a wine and a cigar once or twice.. But blasphemy is a friend of mine and I was made to sin..

Although, Pairings are kind of lost with me as far as cigars go.. some cocktails seem to do well.. For me most of the time pairing with cigars is just ensuring I've got a drink while I smoke!

Agreed, smoking a cigar can dry-out the tonsils a bit. Some fine 'neck lubrication', in whatever form, especially when enjoyed in good company, does help increase the overall enjoyment.

For me ,at least, as a Cognac drinker ,i would say yes to the articule but as a cigar smoker who has tried most of those cigars.

I wouldn"t even have a Coke with those cigars.

There are better N.C.'s out there then those in my opinion.

Davidoff Nicaragua is one of the better NCs in my opinion.

And I do think that Cognac is one of the best pairings for cigars. Perhaps I am in the minority.

A top notch cognac with a cigar is one of my favorite pairings if alcohol is involved. Can't comment on the NC's as I don't smoke them but with a Cuban cigar after a nice dinner works for me.

Yes, I didn't realise how much went of that 30 year old Otard VSOP bottle, but what a quality drop. So easy to drink over the course of 6 to 7 hours!  ;)
