M82 Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 As far as Tuppadors go, I have used a nice one with a cedar tray in it for all the loose sticks El Presidente has supplied and it works out nicely. 4 of the large 62% Boveda packs and a digital hygrometer and I'm good to go. However, now that I've been slightly afflicted with the 24/24 bug, and the resulting symptoms are 4 full boxes (plus one I bought in Aruba), I might look for a bigger container to store the whole boxes in rather than unload into the cedar trays - again with the 4 bigger size Boveda packs. Some boxes are already here in zip lock bags, three still in transit. What would any of you recommend as a good container ? That seals nice I should say - and any good online vendors for such container. I really don't mind using these setups I buy online they way they are - But am also wondering if there is any advantages/disadvantages to keeping them one way or the other. Loose or in original boxes. Thanks for any input you could offer. My small mixed stick Tuppador 1
1moreVice Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 I've got a "clear weathertight tote" from the container store that works great. They seal perfectly and have a bunch of different options, so you can get the appropriate size. I went with the 41 quart size because it's large and was the perfect height to slide under my bed. 2
havanaclub Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Sterile gasket seal storage box. I have the 54 quart box I believe. Stores a tons of boxes. I believe there is a 80Q too. I only have to use 4 boveda packs and holds solid. Purchased at Walmart Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4

luvdunhill Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Iris Weathertight. Sold at Amazon and The Container Store.
Hayden Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Cooler have a good seal and can usually be had for cheap.
M82 Posted July 24, 2017 Author Posted July 24, 2017 So the 54 QT size Sterlite (I have a Wal-Mart reasonably close) will work to hold a bunch of full boxes and you don't need any additional cedar in there as the cigar boxes are cedar ? Or some of them ? Or am I wrong. Sorry if thats a dumb question but haven't bought that many full boxes ever.. These are my first as a matter of fact ! Just want to make sure Im taking care of them correctly. Thanks for all the replies !
adambeggs Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 bump for the garage storage from container store. i bought 74 qt one. currently have 6 trays and a few boxes in there. using only 72% boveda and a computer fan wired to usb charger to keep the air moving. i keep it in my basement and the hydrometer is at 70% constantly.

Loose or in original boxes... I prefer a cooler to combat temperature swings, but the containers recommended above will be fine if that is what you want. Your existing container looks like it is serving you well as a "Desktop Tupperidor"; but now you have diagnosed yourself with a case of TAD (tobacco acquisition disorder), when you decide on the larger container, it is likely that you might find it more convenient to store them in their original boxes... if you emptied them all out and had tons of singles, you may go mad trying to find the one you want or you would have a lot of small boxes with singles in them that would require maintenance on each box's environment rather than just the one big box. 16 hours ago, M82 said: So the 54 QT size Sterlite (I have a Wal-Mart reasonably close) will work to hold a bunch of full boxes and you don't need any additional cedar in there as the cigar boxes are cedar ? Cedar is good for those small (single cigar) environments, somewhat assisting with the Rh swings and adding a nice aroma and arguably enhancing the flavors of the cigars. I would consider additional cedar as a preference when storing full boxes... I have a 48qt igloo that stores boxes just fine and I do not add cedar to it. There are typically thin cedar dividers in the boxes already (as you may have noticed) so consider that in your decision. I have seen @Ginseng write about his sticking pieces of cedar to the sides of his coolers as he prefers to do and he may be able to comment on that based on his preferences.
Rocketman64 Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 IRIS 41 Quart WEATHERTIGHT Storage Box, Clear https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003IB0JCW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_kINDzbGW4ERNE Plus Http://www.heartfeltindustries.com/products.asp?cat=65%+Rh+Humidity+Beads weathertight seal, works great along with 1 pound of heartfelt 65RH beads in the sock that they sell. I store cigars in the original boxes but propped open. RH stays steady. Obviously, keep away from sunlight. In this size tote you can easily store 6 @ 25 robusto cabinets with some dress boxes across the top -- maybe 4 Monte 2 sized I jave 3 desk size cedar humidors and an antique copper lined humidor. I use the 65RH beads in all. The Cooper and this plastic bin hold the RH best.
M82 Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 "TAD (tobacco acquisition disorder)" Exactly. I have a touch of that. SO when I was out tonight I bought two of the 10 qt Sterilites. If I fill those two, the two desktop tuppidors like pictured, and my wooden desktop humidor that hold my NC's. I will have plenty. And even then my wife may still apply an appropriate amount of the TAD repellent know as FIAT. (Foot In Ass Treatment) thanks for all the recommendations ! Here is the new whole box storage so far. Nice box of Cohiba Siglo 1 still on the way from El Presidente. About to start the "refresh page" syndrome as my TAD is acting up again as it nears 8:30 ! 1

You can put out a few cedar sleeves from the boxes if you would like. Just make sure you wash it down first with dawn dish soap and air out to clear out plastic smell. TheGipper Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Follow havanaclub's advice and let it air out for a good long while to rid the plastic odor. I prefer the Rubbermaid ones, they smell much less than the Sterilite's do. And the most important bit of advice: buy the biggest one you can find (or fit in your storage space). Before long you will be buying a 2nd one. And a third. Then a fourth...and... 1
