Just curious - when slow smoking though a 50 cabinet, say 3-5 cigars a year... do you re-tie the ribbons to make sure the now-slightly-smaller bundle stays together, or just leave the ribbon and cigars to their own devices?

I leave them.

I find that the cigars inevitable settle out to the bottom of the cabinet.... something like this

If I re-tie them, I can keep them in their half-wheel-esque structure better:

Yep.

I leave them to their own devices until they become a pita then they go in the trash. However they become useful if you have to combine boxes for storage issues

no longer a novelty for me, I untie and remove.........

for those of you who are adventurous,I remember seeing several neat items made from box ribbons, including a smoking jacket.

Same.  Re-tieing is a whole other level of OCD.  No judgement.

Re-tie? Now why on earth would I want to do that? OCD indeed.

If you have ever taken the cigar out of the middle of a nice aged bundle of cigars, you know why. Maximize surface area contact, yo.

For the record, I never open the ribbon at all - neither cut nor untie. Just pull out a stick at a time.

This.

If you're able to taste the difference, you should enter the blind tasting contest - you would crush it ;)

I'd venture to guess 99% of us do it that way.
