busdriver
Many of us share in a common problem of limited storage space. Do you mix sticks within boxes and cabs to maximize your storage space? Other than not being able to find certain cigars easily, do you see any issues with this for longer term storage (years)? To get as many sticks as possible in my Humis, I will mix sticks in boxes and cabs. I even bought a 25 Cab to store mixed double coronas:
CigarAsh
I don't really have a storage space problem. Sticks that don't have their own box (like NC sticks from my local B&M - gotta keep supporting them) go in a few drawers with all the other loose sticks. If I bought a full box, that box stays in the humidor even if it only has 1 cigar left in it!

I will make mixed boxes when I buy 1/2 boxes or 1/4 boxes but for the most part, I keep the full box purchases by themselves like @CigarAsh stated he does. 4 hours ago, busdriver said: Other than not being able to find certain cigars easily, do you see any issues with this for longer term storage (years)? I would not have a problem with it, before I moved to larger storage capacity (cooleridor) for my whole boxes, I just stored everything together (many of them for years) in multiple desktop humidors and have always enjoyed the sticks as a result [I have never had a complaint from a friend either]. There was a time years ago when I used to overthink this stuff. Then I stopped obsessing and started enjoying, and now I don't sweat these details anymore. When I start running low on space I look for opportunities to consolidate. When I consolidate I mostly consolidate by size, and I label my cigars with their box codes and origin once they come out of their original box. Aside from making it easy to quickly find what you're looking for, I see no advantage to keeping cigars separated from a flavor or aging standpoint.
garbandz
I just worry that you have all your cigars with the bands touching. Ewwww.........
cigcars
* Yes I mix my sticks because I primarily buy singles. And I'm convinced my tobacconist MUST be storing mixed sticks the same way. He once gifted me an unbanded smoke, wouldn't tell me what it was, and when I smoked it I was convinced that it had to be an aged, discontinued Habano from yesteryear, it was sooooo good! When he finally told me what it was...it turned out to be nothing but a JR Cigar El Baton!!! And smoking and tasting THAT good! It HAD to have been stored and aged among regular Habanos. IMHO
canadianbeaver
Maybe you have a bunch of different cigars in a wooden box on your book shelf. With a hunk of apple to keep them from drying out. Nooooo... say it ain't so! CB

I sweat a lot of storage details, but that is my niche! This is just not one of them... Neither are the, store in bags, tin foil, free radical, ozone... what makes it age better nonsense (MHO). I am interested in one thing. Stability and the ability to grab any cigar and smoke it when I want to. I don't want to 'plan' to smoke. I don't want to rotate cigars and screw with them... I want to see a box, or single, pick it, clip it and light it. Yes, I am one of the more infamous tinkerers on the forum. I tinker nonstop trying to make a better humidor. Ultimately however it is so that I don't have to tinker with my cigars. In the end, all my cigars are equal. When I smoke one there is no reason other than it was ultimately a good cigar or a bad cigar that caused me to have an opinion about it. I don't live in a world of 'did I do it wrong?' Now it is simple. Either a bought a great cigar or something less. I have been taken out of the equation. -Piggy

Santiago
I only have qualms about it if they are different types of Tobacco. I have a few nice Italian cigars - Amazon marca - made with Kentucky tobacco which is quite different from any Cuban. Flavor transfer might not be ideal so I store these with the NCs
Customsfan
I always store cigars together. Didn't know it mattered. But I never really have that many at one time.
