Hello everyone,  here is a review of a Punch Serie D' Oro No1

The cigar is a 52X156 pyramid Of unknown box code and date.  The wrapper is not the prettiest with a kind of uneven hue at the foot.  Clipped the  head with my V cut colibri cutter, draw was just right, draw at cold offered a light ceder/woodsy flavor.  Aroma at the at the foot was good ole' tobacco.

I accompanied the cigar with a vodka, soda and a splash of cranberry.  image.thumb.jpg.2db21640abb087eb41ca7b377959901e.jpg

1/3 of the cigar starts off with a light cedar note with a bit of a cinnamon on the retro.  The cinnamon spice flavor reminds me of a "Havana Cappuccino" offered at Peets coffee here in the states.   The first third offered a steady light cedar cream coffee note.

2/3 remains consistent with the first third but spice note showed a bit more, the finish on the cigar ligers on the tongue of creamed coffee.  The ash holds on until I knock it off. image.thumb.jpg.a5b4af8954823e9edffa889e928071fa.jpg

3/3 smoke remains consistent coffee note deepens to a bit more  black coffee.  Not much change unfortunately.

Conclusion-  this cigar offered a steady amount of nice smoke which was a enjoyable.  This was my first of this cigar so I can not offer any aging changes since 2008.  Overall I found a recent Punch Punch more enjoyable which I found myself comparing this cigar with.  Maybe it has lost some umph with close to 9 years on it.

Overall rated at 88

Hope you all enjoyed my first review.

i must say, i'm surprised to see one of these in such a bad shape. i don't think you have a good example of what this cigar can offer. i had a few in the last 2 years from a box i got 3 years ago. the cigars could not be more different than the one you had. dark and oily, beautiful wrappers. the 2 i had smoked like old punch from decades ago and had lots of umph to it. it had rasins, cappacino, cashew, caramel flavors and an underlying floral aspect to it.  rated mine 95 and 94. crazy how they can differ in construction and flavors. hope you get to smoke a beautiful example of these, you should get a much better experience.

in my case they are not even at their peek yet! so i'm smoking them progressivel until they hit that mark..
