I have a decent supply of recent production Cohiba Corona Especial. I have been considering  a box of Lanceros. They are quite pricey. I have little or no expierence with the size. Rob compared the two on the most recent 24/24. So for those of you who have smoked both how would you compare the two?  Do you think that the Lanceros are worth the extra coin? Thanking you in advance for any observations

The Lanceros are actually about 10% cheaper by weight, at least based on Rob's stock pricing, so that means this is true for distributor pricing and consequently HSA pricing. Athough I suppose some vendors might try to get a premium for Lanceros.

I've never been aware of any blend or quality difference between the two myself and MRN states the blend is identical. I will say that if it's good I'd prefer it to be a Lanceros as I don't want it to end. Also, CE are produced in many different factories but Lanceros are made exclusively at El Laguito, at least in the last 10 years or so. I will say that I smoke more CE as the Laguito No. 2 is one of my favorite vitolas, and possibly because of that I'd say I've had more luck with the CE than with the Lanceros over the years. I would try to stick to CE made at EL however, although they're tough to find. If given the choice of EL Lanceros or XYZ factory CE I'd go with the Lanceros.

And don't forget to let recent production of either sit for at least 18 months (preferably 24-36 mos) before smoking! Let them rest--the more time the better--and you'll be glad you did.

I would buy whichever was the best value at the time. I tend to prefer the shorter cigar but that is simply based on time to smoke. Given the time, the Lanceros is a lovely cigar (or can be).

The cigars vary from cigar to cigar, box to box, year to year! I don't put a lot of faith in Cuban consistency. If you like narrow ring Cohibas you will likely enjoy both cigars. If the CE leaves you wanting more you are a candidate for the Lanceros. If the length of the CE is right, don't bother! If you find an opportunity on quality Lanceros then pick them up if worth the price and risk.

Frankly, with the numbers of under-filled cigars today, I would not be buying expensive cigars until Tabacuba gets their shit together and starts rolling them with some proficiency again. Buying a box of PCs and getting 30% under-filled sticks is bad enough. Getting 30% crap in a box of Lanceros is a crime!

I think all have been from El Laguito. Thanks for excellent answer

All excellent replies here! I guess if one was to post a similar Montecristo Especial vs. Montecristo Especiales No.2 you'd get similar responses. I know one thing, Cohiba Lanceros/Coronas Especiales and Montecristo Especial/Especiales No.2 don't ever last long when put up on 24:24. Going by demand from 24:24 listings, I can tell you that my understanding is the longer Montecristo Especial and Cohiba Lanceros tend to sellout marginally quicker than their shorter counterparts, the Coronas Especiales and Especiales No.2.

My personal preference in regards to the Lanceros and Coronas Especiales is that I'm happy to have both, but if I had to choose one over the other, I'd go for the Lanceros for the longer smoking experience.

FOH.tv trivia: there are 3 video reviews of the Cohiba Lancero, and none for the Cohiba Corona Especial so far.  Perhaps @El Presidente can find a space for the CE on the review docket!  A head-to-head with the Lancero would be terrific.  I don't think @Ken Gargett would object (unless he had to supply the cigars from his ever-diminishing stocks). :)
