Winchester21 Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 A friend of mine brought me a bottle of this back from Cuba. The last time I drank rum was when I was 17. Half of a bottle of 151 with other stuff we won't mention. I almost died literally. So this is my first bottle of run since then. I tried it neat, did not like it. Great mixed with coke but can't tolerate that much refined sugar. Suggestions please. Also is there a 15 or 20 year worth chasing. Thanks in advance 1
83Nation Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Rock or Club Soda. No point in drinking the "expensive" stuff if you're overpowering the taste with sugar water Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
Winchester21 Posted June 14, 2017 Author Posted June 14, 2017 ??ok what's the joke??? ratio beer to rum?
BuzzArd Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Why chase other bottles if you don't care for it? 2
Pncc2323 Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Not to jack your thread but does anyone know where I can pick up a seven-year in the states or better yet does anyone have a friend that knows someone? ?

If u can find a airline pilot they can bring it back from Cuba or other countries. If I get any more bottles I will be glad to keep I in mind. Love to share/trade stuff. It is damn near impossible to find here but with Cuba opening up at least for now there may be more floating around 1
JR Kipling Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Check out rumratings.com. You might find a rum which is more appealing to you.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

We get it for $16 a bottle in the Caribbean when we bring it back duty free. Not Cuba price, but still a great deal.

Winchester21 Posted June 15, 2017 Author Posted June 15, 2017 I don't necessarily hate it. This is my first voyage with rum in 47 years and I am used to burbon. You guys talk about it quite often so I am willing to learn. I will revisit it with a few drops of water to open it up or maybe a cube. Going from premium burbons it was just not what I expected
Wertman Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 I need to learn how to make an awesome Mojito. Wife brought me back a bottle of clear 3 anos from buffalo (Niagara Falls) and have not tried it yet. 1
Auspaul Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 have just brought some clear 3 anos as well thinking of trying it with Lime juice fairly strong tasting for a white rum
shall Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 I use 3 for my mixed drinks. Mostly mojitos, rum and coke, a little perhaps in egg nog come the holidays. Anything older doesn't get mixed. That being said, drink what you like, like what you drink. I have a friend that insists on Woodford and mixed with ginger ale. Although tasty, I assume Beam would work just as well... 3
