A friend of mine recently asked me to pick out three Habanos for him to share with family at an upcoming reunion.  He doesn't smoke often - his last cigar was 3 years ago.  At that time, he really enjoyed the Upmann Connoisseur 1.  He said that he liked it because "it was smooth, almost like puffing water vapor!". Clearly, he wants something that is mild in flavor, but still has a bit of strength.  What other cigars should I recommend that wouldn't put him off?!

I would say almost anything that you like because the way your friend reviewed that Connoisseur 1, you might be the only one that will be fully enjoying them.

For the sake of brevity, assuming your just looking at brands I could recommend Hoyo de Monterrey, Rafael Gonzalez and Por Larrañaga.

Start with Vegueros Entretiempos

follow with H.upmann Half Corona

finish with Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion No.4 or Short Churchill

ERDM and Hoyo are at the lighter end of the chart with Por Larranaga .

Upmann has lots of flavors and is a bit fuller.

RyJ and Ramon Allones are rich but still not too strong.

these should be enough choices to find something nice...........

R&J Milles Flures

Nice and light, not too big and not overly priced where you cry when someone throws it down after two puffs.

I can't really think of any which are mild in flavor but with a bit of strength. But for for something flavorful while not overpowering, I'd generally agree with Montecristo, Upmann, and Rafael Gonzalez.
