been seeking some info on stuff re cigars and happened across a note that suggests that the 2006 LE's will be a montecristo robusto, partagas D3 and cohiba pyramide.

this is really speccy at the moment as i have not had it confirmed by havana (am trying) and what i found was in spanish which i don't really speak at all (so it could have said, my dog ate my windscreen wipers, for all i know) but i think that this was what they were suggesting.

anyone out there with more/better info?

be very interested to see if the monte robustos are as good as the first lot and also the cohiba pyramides - perhaps that is why there is no 40th anniversary cohiba.

have been smoking quite a few of the first round of cohiba pyramide LE's of late. i am sort of enjoying them but they are from a water damaged box and so far less then they might have otherwise been, which is extremely frustrating. finding them extremely minty - am sure that this is caused somehow from the damage as i also get it from the few cohiba double coronas i was able to salvage (a box of them also died and perhaps most tragically of all and completely unsalvagable was a box of the mixed cohiba selection).

the only satisfaction is that i finally beat the miserable insurance company, though i had to take them to the insurance ombudsman to do it, which gives me even more satisfaction because i know that cost them a lot of extra money.

I agree with you, Ken... the only thing here that interests me is the Monte robusto. Let's hope it's a clone.

no, but he tried very hard to have the insurance money diverted direct to him and was planning to flick me a few smokes instead (probably those philly blunts). he should know - just be patient, you'll get it all in the end.

Ken -- that is what I too have heard, from a few differnt places.

It may be interesting to see what RG the SD No 3 is -- the historically correct 50 RG or the 46 for a corona gorda.

Thanks for the scoop Colombo.

We posted that in October ;-)

They are releasing the 5th anniversary of the first LE's.

What a farce :lol2:

well forgive me for trying to share some info and from the look of it, going by the posts here, nobody took a blind bit of notice of that news when you allegedly posted it.

perhaps you accidently deleted it when you were deleting any evidence of your support for the hapless tampons!

Why do you say that it's a farce? If the initial EL's were good and people liked them, and they can reasonably reproduce the same blend, then I think it's not a bad idea really. I know that I would definately buy the new 2006 SD3's and Monte Robustos if they were even similar to the first ones.

Dragon

Maybe it's just me but it is akin to new couples celebrating their 5 month anniversary...you know....sweet.... but as an anniversary of relevance it is crapola.

I could understand a 10th Anniversary....but 5th

Oh......so you were referring to the insignificance of the 5th anniversary and not it being a farce for re-releasing a previous EL, ok, I understand.

Correct.

The first LE's were excellent. It will be very very interesting to see if they manage to replicate the blend.

regurgitated is the operative word here ;-)

Can't wait for your post on the Asian Tsunami :lol2:

Ken,

No sense in trading shots up and back with El Prez really. Every time he makes one of his typical sarcastic remarks towards me, I just picture him riding his little Montesa and it puts everything into perspective. :lol2:

dragon,

if i had any idea how to get those little laughing things up, i'd have had a dozen lined up. i don't think i'll ever be able to look at rob in the same light again.

Yes Ken, I believe training wheels were indeed an option on that model, as well as the wicker basket for carrying home baked goods.:lol2:

funnily enough, got an email last night from a mate there who is very excited about all this. seems that it is a cuban, if not an ayala, thing to celebrate things like 5th anniversary (but kudos, rob, on the cultural tolerance there). without mentioning this important and life-affirming debate to him, this was part of the quote - "Crazy customs of ours to celebrate anything every five years. Even less!! Probably we will be celebrating the 137th and a half, or maybe 137th half, three weeks and 2 days of any brand.".

apparently it is a re-release and they have been packaged in a much more upmarket (and therefore no doubt, expensive) way. just have to wait and see but the cubans at least are excited.

get on board, rob, all you'll be doing is countiung more money.

anticipated release date is early july 2006.
