M82 Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Was wondering if there was robusto size Cuban that is more ready " right off the truck" than some of the others. As I have only bought mixed singles so far I never know what the date on box was or where they're at age wise. So here's the thing. We are going to a big family gathering / vacation in early September. Cape Hatteras North Carolina to be more specific. They've rented a huge multi family house on the Sound. All the guys know I'm coming this year (they've done this before) and also know I'm "bringing the goods" as word has gotten out about my new cigar collection. They enjoy a cigar and cocktail at sunset every day. Can't wait - So after all that I have to ask - what could I buy now and get in my humidor resting that will be good to go in 3 months? Or is that idea crazy to begin with -? You can tell me if so - haha. I have some Petite robustos, Epicure 2's, Punch Punch , Uppman Petite coronas and others. Not a box of any of them but 4 or 6 of each. Hate to ask a dumb question but sometimes you have to as a noob - Thank you in advance for any advice you could offer !
cigaraholic Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 For me the SLR Regios isn't just the best robusto to smoke young, it's the best Cuban cigar to smoke young. 4
NSXCIGAR Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 This topic might qualify as one of the most reposted in FOH history. I'm sure there are Robustos mentioned by someone in these threads. 1
Islandboy Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Although technically not a robusto, you mention having Punch Punch, and the consensus seems to be good on smoking young. I know my new box is pretty impressive. 1

I know my new box is pretty impressive. That would be my suggestion as well. The current Punch Punch would be a great pick, regardless of vitola. I would especially steer clear of the Upmann PC- great cigar but it can be uncouth as a youngster.
Habana Mike Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 If you're going for Robustos, ERDM Choix Supreme and HdM Epicure No. 2 usually come out of the gate swinging. Haven't had recent ones of late but historically they've proven to smoke well pretty young. 1
Wertman Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 I know it's not a robusto but when I was in the Cayman Islands two months ago I had a 2016 Reyes and it smoked wonderful. It was smooth and flavorful and my friends seemed to really enjoy the pick. Being such a novice I have not tried a lot of the cigars so my opinion is a bit limited but i hope it helps. 1

Thanks - I do have some of the Choix Supreme on the way - maybe I'll plan to take some of them, Epi2's, and the Punch Punch. ( knowing the PP aren't Robustos ) I have three RYJ Churchill that I wanted to take. Just not sure how they do time wise. Hate to be bringing the goods and have them not be as good as they could be.
