Popular Post JohnS
I had a feeling that our dear friend, @ATGroom was working on the Collection Management Feature of Cuban Cigar Website last night because the website was down for a little time. Knowing Alex as I do, he would have wanted someone like myself to announce it to our members, by finding out the Register/Log In option was added to the top right of the page. There are some changes. When you register, you have an option to publicly share your collection and smoking diary with other members or not. There are still some changes to be made, for example, I spent tonight re-uploading my data to November 2016 and when I finished I tried to organise my collection according to marca, but the link took me to my wishlist. I'm sure you'll tweak it Alex! On behalf of our members, I wanted to thank you for this feature on the website. We are collectively thankful for the changes and improvements you've made since the website crashed and indeed for the changes to be made into the near future. As you can see from my screenshot, I have immense pride just to have my collection back! Ok, I have 219 cigars in my humidor until November 2016 and coincidentally I have another 219 changes (additions, giftings, smoking of stock) to make to update to my current count of 269 as of today. It will be a pleasure to have the opportunity to catalogue these changes this upcoming long weekend!
Colt45
Thanks John. Well done, Alex - I imagine many would have thrown in the towel after the catastrophic loss.

Head83
Hopefully there is a backup this time Still excited to see it back up online. Its nice to have a central place to keep inventory. I use a phone app but its not ideal for tracking CC's.

archosaur
Great news! If you are thinking about tracking your Cuban cigar collection, look no further. And the smoking diary is a very nice feature as well. Thanks Alex.

Duxnutz
@JohnS Do you offer a cigar auditing service? I didn't backup my entries
JohnS
The reason I had a backup was sheer luck. I took a printout of my collection in November 2016, about two weeks prior to the server crash when all data was lost. I would say that all collection inputted into the new collection management feature will be backed up, but I'd need Alex to confirm for sure. ATGroom
Thanks John and everybody. I wanted to get everything back and going by the six month anniversary of the disaster... which was yesterday. An update tonight should fix the sort bug and a few other things. Basically it all should be more or less identical to how it was. A few little improvements here are there. As always, feel free to drop me a line if you have any suggestions for new features, bug reports, or whatever. Also if anyone does have an old CSV file backup then please send it to me and I'll work out an importer for them. Re: the new questions when you register... The first one I ask is if you consent to being contacted by CCW. When I'm looking for a photo of something rare I often think it would be easy just to creep through people's collections and email anyone who has it, but as I'd never asked permission to do that, I felt like I probably shouldn't. So, that's what you're consenting to if you tick that box - you might one day get an email from me saying "hey, can I get a picture of your 21st Century Humidor." The second is the text of the reviews from your smoking diary being visible to the general public. Previously on the main site I would show average ratings from people's smoking diary reviews for cigars on the main site (ie, Cohiba Espléndidos is average 3.75/5 from 50 reviews or what-have-you). I'm thinking that at some point I might also show the actual comments people write here as well, possibly anonymised. Another thought was I could maybe make the smoking diary a sort of auto-blog-generator, ie, the general public can browse a list of members and see their reviews. I'll see how many people answer yes to this question and re-evaluate in a few months. The third is whether you consent to having your collection visible to the public. I wouldn't tick this one personally, but quite a few people have expressed a desire to browse collections over the years. I'd say it's doubtful anything will ever come of this, but I'll see how many people tick the box. Head83
Will there be a way to go in and change one of your preferences at a later date if desired?
stogieluver
@ATGroom, my smoking diary prior to the crash had become very lengthy because 1. I smoke every day, sometimes multiple sticks per day, & 2. because i started using the collection mgmt feature early on so it extended over a two year, maybe longer, period of time. I often wished I could categorize that list into time periods files, say yearly, to cut down the amount of scrolling to get to the bottom of my diary. Might be a long shot to get that done, but just throwing that suggestion out there.

Yep, if I ever do anything with them then there'll be an option to change. 9 hours ago, stogieluver said: @ATGroom, my smoking diary prior to the crash had become very lengthy because 1. Although probably not so much of an issue at the moment as everyone is reset to 0.
