HSA Price Rise.

Prices are on the move after being relatively stable for a number of years. 

Most increases are in the 3% range. Cohiba however is near enough a 10% increase. That is a big jump. 

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but there is not too much that can be done.

I only found out this morning. I suspect others have already been briefed. It is up to the distributors to pass on the news.

I guess supply and demand comes into this. While the market is willing to pay these prices I can see why they would want to cash in. It does mean that the price gap between Cohiba and others is widening though, will there come a point that it isn't worth the premium over alternative marcas? 

Isn't there a Cohiba LE due at some point this year?

Reminds me of year after year double digit percent increases in purchasing 1 million plus tons of rock salt at work.  After awhile, you become numb to commodity price increases.  At least we were able to institute reverse auctioning which instantly saved us/taxpayers 15-20% across the board.   I bet distributors, retailers and consumers would love a break at some point but I doubt Senor Castro and the powers that be would be down for it .

This while the quality of the product continues to dwindle. They know how to increase prices but seem to have forgotten how to roll cigars with any sort of regularity or consistency. They didn't get us for as much as they planned with their new "tourism plan" so now on to the next "plan." A never ending cycle of incompetency.

I guess HSA is going to find out exactly where supply and demand meet when production ramps back up in 2018 and 2019 with these higher prices. They may find themselves sitting on a lot more stock than they'd like wishing they had many of the discontinued cigars of the last 15 years back in production. Instead they'll just be unable to sell all the Wide Churchills, Mag 54, PSE2 and QdO 54s they're cranking out en masse.
