El Presidente Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Prices are on the move after being relatively stable for a number of years. Most increases are in the 3% range. Cohiba however is near enough a 10% increase. That is a big jump. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but there is not too much that can be done.
Ethernut Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 ..supposing because the rediculous 400% hotel price increases didn't quite work out for them? ? 2
dangolf18 Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Wait have these price increases already taken effect? Can't imagine a box of CoRos would now cost close to $500.

David88 Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I guess supply and demand comes into this. While the market is willing to pay these prices I can see why they would want to cash in. It does mean that the price gap between Cohiba and others is widening though, will there come a point that it isn't worth the premium over alternative marcas? Isn't there a Cohiba LE due at some point this year?
daustinhartman Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Reminds me of year after year double digit percent increases in purchasing 1 million plus tons of rock salt at work. After awhile, you become numb to commodity price increases. At least we were able to institute reverse auctioning which instantly saved us/taxpayers 15-20% across the board. I bet distributors, retailers and consumers would love a break at some point but I doubt Senor Castro and the powers that be would be down for it .
Corylax18 Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 This while the quality of the product continues to dwindle. They know how to increase prices but seem to have forgotten how to roll cigars with any sort of regularity or consistency. They didn't get us for as much as they planned with their new "tourism plan" so now on to the next "plan." A never ending cycle of incompetency. 21 minutes ago, David88 said: It does mean that the price gap between Cohiba and others is widening though, will there come a point that it isn't worth the premium over alternative marcas? You would have thought about 23 years ago, but they do introduce fancy new bands more often than the other marcas...... 3

Shit, depending on what Trump does their tourism plan is really about to hit the crapper for the next 3 years or Trump gets booted...
Popular Post PigFish Posted June 5, 2017 Popular Post Posted June 5, 2017 Hmmm... I figure the bastards owe me about 30% back of each box I purchased last year as that is about equal to the crap, underfilled and dead cigars that they put in a box these days. FU Tabacuba! -Piggy 10
NSXCIGAR Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I guess HSA is going to find out exactly where supply and demand meet when production ramps back up in 2018 and 2019 with these higher prices. They may find themselves sitting on a lot more stock than they'd like wishing they had many of the discontinued cigars of the last 15 years back in production. Instead they'll just be unable to sell all the Wide Churchills, Mag 54, PSE2 and QdO 54s they're cranking out en masse. 4
Lotusguy Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 The flipping game is alive and well - still plenty of room for price increases before people stop buying, apparently. Just take one look at Facebook. 4

Just take one look at Facebook. Just like the whisky auctions. Look at Port Ellen it's ridiculous now what it cost to buy a bottle and don't try to get one from a flipper.
Popular Post Fugu Posted June 5, 2017 Popular Post Posted June 5, 2017 Don't complain - just don't buy. As long as you buy prices simply ARE justified. 9
Popular Post anacostiakat Posted June 5, 2017 Popular Post Posted June 5, 2017 Boo! The Cohiba prices are already too high. 5

This is the easiest thing to say^^, but if it's something you like or you enjoy. What are you going to do except bitch and complain since you still want it.
Popular Post OZCUBAN Posted June 5, 2017 Popular Post Posted June 5, 2017 For us in Oz the HSA price rises are mere drop in the bucket a lot less than our govt/customs imposes its the price we pay ? ? 5

Knilas Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Cohiba already aren't worth the price over alternative marcas. Over priced /over hyped. Just sayin... YMMV. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk 1

The amount of taxes in OZ, shouldn't be allowed. Do you think, that in the future, there is any chance of a reduction in the amount of taxes that the state has imposed on you all,

JR Kipling Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Marketing costs for their new huge tobacco tampon cigars must cost a lotta money And weren't we just reading about a record tobacco harvest ? &$%¥€# 1
