Habanos2000 Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Typical cowardly act. Prayers to our Manchester family members. 4
cigcars Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 * Sigh * I just don't know the words to say or use in the very wearying incidences of this kind of thing. It is abhorrent, unnecessary, I can go on and on. The only feasible thing I can say is to reiterate the above statements of Habanos2000 and Ozcuban, and that is to stay strong, people - you're tougher than these cowards out here who want to make whatever statement they think they are...scuz buckets 2
Ken Gargett Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 the act of utter scum. sometimes i really wish that there was heaven/hell etc, because i know where these grubs are headed. any wonder govts are turning more and more right wing. who can blame people wanting this wiped from the face of the earth? best wishes to all involved for speedy recoveries and deepest commiserations to those who have lost someone. 2
LordAnubis Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Sad to see the news when you wake up. Let justice prevail, us good humans win, and let these bastards responsible suffer. Prayers to all those affected 1
Popular Post gweilgi Posted May 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 23, 2017 This is Britain. We are Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus and worshippers of more gods than you can shake a stick at. We are Celts, Anglo-Saxons, Huguenots, Vikings, Germans, Indians, Africans and every other ethnic group under the sun. We are the original melting pot, welcoming all faiths and all races and all ideologies to settle and shelter on this sceptre'd isle. This is our heritage, and our future, and it is our strength. Deluded maniacs who delight in blowing up children will never succeed in changing this. We prevailed when Napoleon was our enemy. We defeated Hitler. We endured and survived the IRA. We will defeat this enemy, too. We shall never surrender. 16

We have vetting, and it is strict. But what can one do about those who are already here, who are citizens? We cannot and will not put all people with such a cultural or ethnic background under general suspicion. That would be against everything we stand for, and it would be EXACTLY what the terrorists want. 8
Popular Post SignalJoe Posted May 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 23, 2017 I appreciate and understand your position, however I have to strongly disagree. The idea of terror is to strike fear into the populace. From a logical/legal perspective providing for the safety of the citizens is the primary function of government. If the statistics bear out that a certain demographic is responsible for this abhorrent behavior then they have earned the additional scrutiny. How many times do we need to mourn the deaths of innocents at the alter of tolerance? Acceptance and appeasement did not prevent this attack and it will not prevent others. The concept of ignoring reality/statistics and appeasement in the name of political correctness will be the downfall of western civilization. Winston Churchill was correct when he said “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.” I doubt we will agree on the subject and I don't wish to devolve in to a philosophical debate on the matter. I just wanted to interject an alternate perspective. I wish nothing but the best for the people of the UK. 9
Popular Post LordAnubis Posted May 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 23, 2017 How about we leave this thread for condolences to those who have been injured in these attacks, and not bring it down to politics and personal opinions. 17
Fuzz Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Totally agree. Now is not the time for this. Now is the time to care for the injured and comfort those who have lost a loved one. Terrorism will never win, for it only makes us more resolute in our unity. 4
Shaunster Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 It feels like we are just waiting for the next attack, an attack happens, there is outrage 'lessons learnt' and 'solidarity' but nothing changes and the cycle repeats itself. We cant seem to go a month in europe without an attack now. 3
Popular Post 99call Posted May 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 23, 2017 Here in Manchester we will be fine. There will be individuals that will be going through unbelievable pain currently, but division and hatred is never the answer, that would just be more of the same. The blitz mentality is ever present in the UK. I was in London for the bombings and it's just the same now. Terrorists get no tears, not a single drop. The only way you can beat people like this is to show the courage of those like Martin Luther King, Gandhi. Meet people with love and acceptance, even if they're confused and wishing to do you ill. If we continue to drone strike people in the middle east, we continue to express the opinion that we don't even have enough respect to kill in person. It's flawed, and it's a cycle that will continue to be very bloody. There are many communities in the North West of England that are broken. By broken I mean cultures that live in isolation from one another. There are idiots in every creed and colour of society, but if our communities are insular, it allows those who are disaffected to languish and form misplaced hatred of cultures they don't understand. As I kid, I grew up in a wonderful, Pakistani, Indian, West Indian, Polish etc etc Neighbourhood, and the only sense of difference was awesome parts of each others culture there were to experience and enjoy. I don't see any of this anymore, it's been replaced by greed, suspicion and intolerance. I think years ago it was impossible for cultures to live in isolation, but the technical age, basically means a foreign community can settle in the UK, and not really have any need to converse, commerce or coexist with other communities, it then becomes tribal. and when things become tribal, you then get idiots brainwashing young lads to hate and blow up innocent people. There is no such thing as terrorists, there are just people who's lives, have for whatever reason been void of correct guidance, education, affection etc etc. When you see those in the UK go off to Syria to fight for ISIS, you get a very strong sense, they'd not ever had a girlfriend, not really had any friends, I'm not sympathising with them in anyway way shape or form, but I see little difference between a young idiot kid, with a head full of nonsense, collecting obsessing over guns and going into a school and shooting his classmates, to a suicide bomber. They're both products of forming beliefs and opinions that are insane, and have been allowed to go unchecked in isolation. We need to put down the mobile phone, and talk to our neighbours. See people from different cultures around us as potential new best friends, share your own culture, and try to understand theirs. If the only interaction we have with foreign cultures is a takeaway food menu, we are doomed. My thoughts go out to all the families that are in agony and the moment, The people of Manchester will come together just as we did when the IRA tried to blow the heart out of the city. Your bombs are gone in a flash, our love and pride is permanent! 11
Popular Post Akela3rd Posted May 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 23, 2017 Tolerance and defiance are both strong British characteristics and in us northerners it's particularly inbuilt. With these we'll get through this. We will not stop living, we will not stop loving, we will not hate.My heart goes out to my Manc friends. Thunder & Lightening '75-'15 5
TNT009 Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Sad state of the world and even more saddening is this will only get worse.. These Cowards are ruthless! 1
TheFullMontecristo Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Prayers to the victims, many of them very young ones. There will be vigils and shows of solidarity but there comes time for a swift solution but the liberal politicians wont be the ones to do it. What a time we live in when women not safe walking the streets and now children are no longer safe going to concerts without fear of getting blown to bits. 1

Knilas Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Deepest sympathies from across the pond. May those affected find peace and strength, and those responsible find swift justice. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk 1
Popular Post PigFish Posted May 23, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 23, 2017 ... so we are going to fight about it now? Whether we are talking religions, political groups, or communities, even cigar groups, there will be flawed thought, flawed actions and actors. We are human after all. Our free will is God given, yet it is God's greatest challenge to humanity!!! MHO... Man's eternal struggle is to deal with his own free will. I think that some see an enemy while some don't. It is pretty simple. The enemy was simpler to see when they dressed in a white sheet with a pointed hood, or brown shirt, but perhaps lesser so when they were contemporary. Hindsight is always 20/20. I would say that if one cannot recognize the 'enemy today' that is okay. It is in a "good man's" character not to point fingers. Yet claiming that one does not exist is proof of ignorance. Every group that has set out to force the hand of society via the force of violence has started small, and to them for good reason. Sometimes it just fizzles out and is carried to the next group that fosters hatred and the malcontented. Sometimes it is ended only by world war... I pray this will not be such an event. This is easy for me to see... Yet wrapping the innocent up in a reckless accusation does nothing but alienate my friends. I will therefore leave you with this. Society cannot be shaped by 'force.' This is a 'force' to shape society... The human characteristic to exercise "their desire for power and control" as the will of God is the greatest of human flaws, furthermore the greatest sin of all. It is closely followed by those who wish to shape it with the force of government. The flaw is in the thought of the perfection of man. If God meant for man to be perfect, he would have made them so and not left it to 'a' man's neighbor. I believe in God. There will be a penalty to pay for these acts, if not in this life, then in the next. If you believe differently, it is because God gave you free will, and the freedom give the creator the 'middle' finger. I would not have it any other way. It is the people that wish to change you with violence that are the problem. Unfortunately, they can only be met with violence... and we have come full circle. God's speed Manchester. 9
