Cohiba Sig 1 vs H. Up 1/2 corona

Recommended Posts

I get it.  Not the same thing, not a competition, blah blah blah.

but if they did have to compete without age, what would you grab? Finished a young sig 1 a few min ago and am now into the 1/2 corona.

HUHC actually wins for me.  Maybe I'm nuts. Just a damn good cigar young with solid construction.  I've had much better luck with these than any cohiba from a consistent construction standpoint. Great lil cigar while I enjoy the longer evenings outside.

I think aged the cohiba will win.  going to let them sit a year and do the matchup again.  Back to back just like today so I can see what the results are.

HUHC wins for me, too. Bought my first box blind a few months ago and I'm burning through them. Tasty little things and I can stretch them out to about 45 minutes. I'm a slow smoker, though.

Not as experienced with the Sig 1s, but I've had a few and my vote goes to HUHC.

Bought blind as well.  So tempted to get more

If you have to compete without age then the H.Upmann Half Corona would definitely be the choice to go for. In my opinion, the Cohiba Siglo I is the strongest cigar in the Linea 1492 line (but I'm comparing the line from Siglo I to V, not including the VI which I consider different to the rest of the Siglo line), and to appreciate its nuances I'd be inclined to give it a minimum 2 to 3 years until it's closer to mild-medium in body.

John, can you expand on this?  Either here, or in a different thread.  I'm intrigued.

Been spread around the web and forums for years. I don't get it either.  Very similar to the rest of the line.

I'll elaborate on it in this thread.

In my humble opinion, it is not. However, I don't wish to 'de-rail' this thread other than to say that the later release of the Siglo VI in 2002 (10 years after the Siglo line was announced) and its subsequent acclaim (amongst the habanos cigar community) in contrast to the rest of the Siglo line suggests otherwise.
