El Presidente Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 What was the last new cigar release that made you go "Wow...Bloody Hell" ...the last one to blow you away at the first tasting. ....Cuban or non cuban....it doesn't matter. They are always great moments. Rare as hens teeth. Think back...where, when, with whom.....paint the picture for us .....
Popular Post JohnS Posted May 8, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 8, 2017 In regards to Limited Editions, the 2015 ones did that for me from the very first sampling...the Ramon Allones Club Allones and H.Upmann Magnum 56, in regards to Regional Editions, the 2014 Asia Pacifico Diplomáticos Bushidos and in regards to regular production, definitely the Cohiba Piramides Extra. The Cohiba Piramides Extra is, like all Cohiba, priced at a premium and a little bigger than a normal torpedo vitola (54 ring gauge x 160 mm, whereas the Montecristo and Diplomáticos No.2's are 52 ring gauge x 156 mm, for example), but they've never failed to satisfy when I have them on a rare occasion. All four of these cigars were similar...you knew it was special from the first puff. It drew me in and didn't let go until they were nubbed. 6
PatrickEwing Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 The Dip Países Bajos was very good and showed great potential. Alone, sitting near the beach, windy as all hell. I suppose you could say the cigar was secondary to the setting, so for me to take that much notice might indicate it's quality.
drsupremos Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 my socks were knocked off with cohiba media siglo, amazing little cigar!
NSXCIGAR Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 "New release" is a little broad...if we're throwing in all special releases in there I'd have to say I am the most impressed overall with the Connie A. Honorable mention goes to the Mag 56, which is quite a cigar but not one I could really embrace. Also been very impressed with the RA Superiores overall, although recent production has been a bit off from its peak IMO. New regular production release, I'd have to say there's not much. I suppose the HUHC and Monte Media Corona are both pretty good.
MrGlass Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Another vote for the Magnum 56 here. I got some in a box split and every one I tried was incredible. They were so amazing I managed to overcome the huge Aussie price and bought a box, which was something I never intended on doing. 4
Bartolomeo Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Monte 80th....RA 225th RE UK....both blends are spot on IMHO and I think very highly of both 3
skalls Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 I'll echo John's statement with the 2015 LEs. The RACA was amazingly powerful and flavorful. Not at all ready to smoke yet but so much potential. The Magnum 56, and I remain that it is a stupid stupid cigar, is fantastic. 1
Puros Y Vino Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 In order recently for me. H Upmann Connie A PL Picadores RACA Montecristo Dantes
Popular Post dvickery Posted May 9, 2017 Popular Post Posted May 9, 2017 Upmann half corona ... best new release from HSA ever . Better new cigar than sigloVI or any robainas or Trinidad fundadores or or or ... got original release half coronas ??? Treasure them . derrek 5
David88 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 The Ramon Allones Club Allones was outstanding for me. I think partly it was due to the sheer strength of it, but also the flavour was quite defined and it grabbed my attention from the start. 1
Zedman05 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 I too agree with both the Connie A and the Half Corona. I was told by a friend, who bought 10 boxes as soon as they came out, to get as many as you could. He was in love with those HC's, and for good reason. I did say "holy crap these are great".

Our late BOTL Bassman, eminent member of this forum, purchased 11 boxes of the original release! Recent production is still good, and a great Q/P ratio, although not at the same level.
stunod Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Connie A . It smokes like a 5 year old cigar. Great size great flavor.
mnmlst Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Trinidad Robusto T, couple years back. I still remember it vividly. Smooth and creamy with a hint of tea. Took me by surprise because I didn't know anything about it. Bought it as a single. It was the first time I actually tasted tea in a cigar. 2

in0gravity Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Another vote for the H. Upmann Half Corona. Also I am impressed with the H. Upmann Magnum 54 so far. regards Lars 1
