I love your reviews, but I've been meaning to ask....what in heaven's name is in all those plastic soda bottles...is that like some kind of Howard Hughes thing...??

may i suggest checking the answer to this in about a thousand video posts! the most asked question on foh.

i collect rain as it comes off the roof in one spot and i use it for watering the plants as the tap on the balcony is stuffed.

Audio seems much improved--noticed the camera is closer and higher? Rob & Ken are much easier to hear in this video. Voices been seeming kind of distant over the last year or so. Anyone else notice that?

Chocolate and pepper? What a combination! Nice to mention the Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin and @Fuzz too boys. (It's) Not long now until the next batch is due to be released in 2017.

That bit in the review where Rob muses on the fact that pepper can only come from ligero, and that later bit where the Dantes almost puts Rob down for the count...Is it possible that more ligero than is traditional is being blended into these cigars?  Following bigger ring gauges and flashier bands, is Habanos taking another leaf (sorry) out of the NC book?

Feel free to tell me I'm talking nonsense and look silly in my tinfoil hat...

We seem to be ignoring the new strains that began gradual commercial introduction 5-7 years ago. Both the Criollo 2010 and Corojo 2012 have been "approved" by the Cuban Tobacco Research Institute for commercial growth. Its pretty much impossible to know who is growing these new strains, and if they are, doing it in any appreciable volume.

The link below is to a previous thread discussing this. My point is, the tobacco in these cigars wasn't necessarily pilfered from any current production. It would make a lot more sense to introduce new strains in LE/RE/Limited production lines with no long standing flavor profile that needs to be matched. It seems it would be much more difficult to blend these new strains into existing blends while maintaining the that same profile.

I will make a note to ask about these strains in November. Somebody down there has to have more current info.

First, with this score, 2017 is trending to have the highest review scores of any year on record, with an average of 92.6.  Quite remarkable, given the overall quality on the market.

Second, when are we going to see @Ferrero join the review crew?!

first, greg always welcome to join us but if he comes, who is going to be doing the work?

as for scores going up, easy answer to that. rob finally understood that he'd be left standing in the garden if he didn't up the standards.
