I've been working through some Siglo III that have rested for about 3 months. Some have been rich as you'd hope and some have been bland and limp. I got into one tonight with a nice Havana 7yo and thought I was on the losing end again with a tightish draw and no real flavour in the first 3rd. Then I recalled the perfect draw post up here a week or two ago. I don't have any professional tools here but decided to Bear Grylls it with a kitchen skewer. All of a sudden the Siglo came to life with grass and leather and ending up with this deep cream, tobacco and caramel. Almost as pleasing, the cigar brought out the same deep caramel in the rum.

Anyway just wanted to say thanks to the resident advisors at FOH and note that spiking the cigar was a cracking tip.

I use a tiny screwdriver type tool.  It came in a kit from the dollar store.  Instead of a flathead, it has threads.  I just screw it in a little then back it out.  It will bring a tiny amount of tobacco with it.  Keep checking the draw until just right.
