DocRKS Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 I have a tradition over the Christmas Holiday break where I physically remove and re-arrange every box and loose cigar in my 2 Avallo Humidors. In performing this 'ritual' this year, I rediscovered 2 boxes of ABR 02 Sanch Panza Belicoso I had buried deep at the bottom of one Humi - hidden by boxes of the more "trendy" ELs and other 'HOT' regional offerings etc.... I have always enjoyed this stick - both in terms of an excellent flavor profile and really delicious smoking experience - but also in terms of the OUTSTANDING value for the $$ these often overlooked marcas bring with them. I lit this up after a great dinner accompanied with a beautiful snifter of Remy and was absolutely WOWed by how good this cigar is.... Tremendous flavor - outstanding value -- a real winner !!!:-) It's a good thing to take the time and take an accounting oy your stockpile.. As in my case - you may rediscover a real treat that has just been hiding away patiently.....It also reminded me of the excellent smoking experiences that are to be found in many of the Habana offerings that do not have the same market share as the Cohiba, Montecristo or Partagas or RyJ lines... There are some really outstanding cigars out there that can be enjoyed for an excellent price..

guilow Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Nice find! I recently started on the Sancho Panza marca. I now have box of non-plus and I'm really enjoying them. Thanks for the information. I will have to consider the Belicosos next!
n2advnture Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Great review Roman! I smoked an 02 SP Beli just the other day and was reminded that this is the first smoke that Geoffrie gifted - loved it then and love it now and definitely agree that there are a TON of great smokes that will get you 2/1, 3/1 & 4/1 against the ELs, Limiteds, etc...pricing. Way to go agains the trend! :-P
cf2112 Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Great find Bro. Roman, it's things like this that can make a bad day good or good day great.:-D
genevapics Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Nice post. Good information and a very good point regarding value. I will need to keep this cigar in mind. Thanks again.
sleeper Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Agreed! Some of the best values and flavor offerings are not amongst the more popular brands, or ring sizes for that matter. those who limit themselves to the most hyped brands and sizes are missing out!
Ken Gargett Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 it is a top thing to do - same for a wine cellar. you come up with things you can't even remember buying (and sometimes you wonder why you bought them). does lead to great surprises. i am also very positive about some of the 'other' brands and have tried to learn a lot more about them last year and will again this year. the only thing i don't agree with is the smoke itself. the sp beli's have always disappointed me but hopefully, mine has been an experience not widely shared.
kab55 Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Fired one with the same box code a few nights ago. Forgot I had them, don't imagine they will last long now, excellant smoke.
jjisaacson Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 did a review on a sp beli qite awhile back on another board... i loved it! have i bought a box yet... NO... damn... note to self- put these on my "to buy" list... thanks for the review and reminder roman.
cvm4 Posted January 8, 2006 Posted January 8, 2006 Good lesson to learn Roman Sometimes we get caught up in the hype and buy the latest offerings and forget that we might already have excellent cigars :-)
