What an awful situation and I feel for them. What a huge kick in the guts.

Losing a 40 foot container puts a big hole in your inventory.

Let's hope that they put this behind them asap.

A whole 40-foot (12 metres) container vanished? I have every confidence that the culprits will get caught. Yes, I feel sorry for Fuente, for despite the fact that the stock would be insured, there's still surmountable losses in inventory, excesses and lost income.

Wow. Unreal.

I work in cargo insurance and carrier liability, lets hope they have a decent policy, regardless it's going to be a major blow for Fuente.

Very unfortunate to hear. Gladly, I don't see how this could end well for the thieves. Fencing hundreds of thousands of Fuentes can't be easy. I would imagine any attempt to do so would immediately raise huge red flags.

Wow...whole container load? That sux... you think about logistics of a heist like that... no common theives. As mentioned, hope their insurance policy is adequate.

This seems almost unbelievable. The article suggests that there is currently a degree of limited availability of Fuente cigars and this will certainly make that worse. Hopefully the people responsible are found soon.

These are inter-model containers. Was probably already on a trailer and ready to roll, if not at a midway holding point. A lot of times these thieves make a call and have a buyer before they are ever pulling them.

Holy smoke does anyone know how many cigars that adds up too because my calc. does not have

that many zeros.   If I was a betting man I'd say they are

all ready in the deep grey market world by now and some of them are already on their way to the big ash in the sky.

Yep. If it is on a trailer, you can hijack/steal it anywhere after leaving port. Apparently Florida is 3rd in the US for the most cargo thefts recorded.

This is a damn shame. The Fuentes are a wonderful family, and I hate to see this happen to them. Hope the cigars are quickly recovered.

On a more sober note, when I was a kid I did some unpacking of these containers for a bicycle maker/importer. Losing a container is not as rare as one might think.

I am wondering... they stated "hundreds of thousands of cigars" - now is that 200,000 or 999,999 cigars? I'd say there's a significant difference. Nonetheless, a devastation to their company.
