El Presidente Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I was just picking some cigars for this weekend. For me, this is the perfect large cigar. If I could have each marque in this, I would be a happy man 52 guage at its widest girth. Tapered length. fits perfectly in the gob. 90 minutes easy. Plenty of room for a great blend and the flavour journey is only accentuated by the taper. A Personal Perfect 10 for a "large cigar". in this case, a Cuaba Distinguidos. Build your own if you like. 2
skalls Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Maybe a double Corona at 7.75" x 50 instead of 47? But the double Corona is pretty much a stellar large cigar 4
MrGlass Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I've always felt like the Double Corona is the perfect large cigar. The ring guage is big enough that you have less issues with construction, while still small enough to be comfortable, and everything about it just feels in proportion. If building my own, I'd include a pigtail cap and a shaggy foot, but neither of these options are actually going to affect it - I just have a soft spot for them. 4
dominattorney Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 If we mean length, I'll stick with laguito no 1. If we are talking girth, I agree with Rob.
gweilgi Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 As much as I adore Cuaba, and the distinguidos in particular, they are (in my admittedly limited) experience more susceptible to construction problems due to the shape. I also find them quite often harder to light, and harder to light properly and evenly, than parejos. That's why my perfect shape would be a Dalia/Lonsdale. Partagas 898, Ramon Allones 898, Bolivar Gold Medal or Inmensas ... they are all good. 1
HarveyBoulevard Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I'm working on an 80 x 80 stick. Dislocate jaw...insert cigar...light...take a draw...and viola, your done. ...it also has 4 bands ? Seriously though, the No.109 is a perfect shape and size. I will plagiarize that one. 1

polarbear Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I'll stick with a 109 if we're talking large format If we're talking large RG, a 46-60-52 salamones would be nice
JohnS Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I'd like a Cohiba Double Corona (49 ring gauge x 194 mm) or better still a regular production Cohiba A Gran Corona (47 ring gauge x 235 mm) because sometimes, for me, an Esplendidos or Lanceros isn't long enough! 3

zeedubbya Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I love the feel of a Laguito #2 in the hand. It's about the perfect size I believe. But...if you're asking me to build my perfect large format cigar it would be a Mag56 with a tapered head. I will say, although I am not a fan of the taste of the cigar CA picked as cigar of the year--it is a very clever shape for a behemoth ring gauge. Here is one next to a Dip2 for comparison sake (just so you all don't think I'm off my rocker!) 2
Troels Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Churchill will do - and then I was about to suggest bolivar - and realised I never really have bought them in any volume - last chance now!
dicko Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 I must agree with the above regarding the 109 size. Make it a shaggy foot as well. 1
Mycroft Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Cuaba Salomones I had last week was great. I have high hopes for the Boli Tesoros I just picked up.
PigFish Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 ... favorite large format cigar! Jesus! Would I prefer to be shot in the hand or the foot? A belicosos or piramides is as much cigar as I generally want to deal with these days. I cannot say that my smoking style needs any of them. -the Pig
Danimalia Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Throw an extra inch onto a Dalia or Cazador, and a pigtail cap (just 'cause I like them). Or, I guess they could just increase the RG of a Laguito Especial to 42-44. In terms of what's available, I think DCs and Churchills are both very nice large format cigars. Being an American, the Mag 50 hits that toro lover in me.
Jimmy_jack Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 A Rodolfo or big 109 format rolled in Vegas Robaina finest blend. 1
Lotusguy Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Bolivar 109 - oh wait - that already exists in the 5ta Avenida 1
dflan82 Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Have to agree with the 109 as a favorite large cigar format but if I were to build a big Frankenstogie to see how it turned out, I would model an H. Upmann after the Arturo Fuente Shark. The cigar would be about 6" in length and would start off as a rounded parejo that progresses into a square press, tapering from a 49rg to 56rg. (Slightly less girth than the actual Shark) The blend would be a hybrid between a Sir Winston and a Mag 56...plenty of depth in flavor, but must retain that element of class. Ladies and Germs, I present to you the H. Upmann Frankenshark: 4
