Most of these new offerings belong in the Fat Bastard 2017 Competition.  (Sigh)... Nothing under 47RG!

I think the one that really sparked my interest was the H. Upmann Sir Winston Gran Reserva Cosecha 2011

By the looks of it the new Montecristo's 'Linea 1935' is Montes take on a super premium line akin to Cohiba's Behike.

Yes, this is the first confirmation that the new Monte releases appear to be in a new line with a new second band. Now I want to know what makes this line special and why HSA is going to almost certainly be charging a serious premium for these. The Maduro 5 utilizes 5-year-aged Maduro wrapper and 3-year aged binder & filler; the Behike utilizes Medio Tiempo and special wrappers. What will the 1935 line's niche be?

Also, this appears to indicate that QdO is transitioning to a global brand--?? It may be only the new cigars that will be global, but CA uses the term ...and a re-design and new marketing strategy for a former regional brand, Quai D'Orsay. That looks to me to indicate the entire marca is going global, even though I just don't see how that's possible.

Other than that, I'm happy that it looks like more sub-50 RG releases are on the horizon than in past years.

Not sure. Do they even need to have anything 'special' anymore? It's probably clear to HSA by now enough people will pay a premium just for the 'bling'

Not impressed by the large ring gauges. I really hope the trends go back to smaller sizes at some point.

as far as new cigars go, i'm interested in trying the Trinidad La Trova, a 6 1/2 by 52 . its pretty much as far up as i'd go on RG size.  could be a good one.

the LE's seem disappointing to me and the Montecristo robusto( Dumas) size could be something to try for sure..

I have been smoking different small ring gauges lately and have been so impressed! Flavorful, spiced, great draws. Bigger ring gauge lacks flavor IMO. It's just a way to get more money out of the consumer.

Nothing besides pricing. Another move to lift prices abruptly. A joke anyway, as this was meant to be released at the occasion of the 80th anniv., coming two years late. So, be prepared to soon say goodbye to the Especiales and the No.1, 3....

The Sir Winston supply probably dried up since they've been hoarding regular prodution so they can release it with a Gran Reserva band to the world. Lol

The Quai D'Orsay brand, which up to now has been sold primarily in the French market, will now get a global marketing push.

Why? Why push QdO on the rest of the world when they can't keep up with regular good stuff....oh yeah, new is better and always cost more.

Sounds like HSA is using the same marketing company as McDonald's to appeal to the American tastes of: "super size me"! HSA cigar ring guages, like food portions (and waist sizes) here in the US, are getting bigger and bigger it seems. Sigh .....

...and how many non-Americans chase down and smoke those plus size RAs, Bolivars, QDOs, Monte Dantes, PLs, Behikes, etc, etc??? Looks like the rest of the world is supporting the movement as well...

I'm excited about the sleeper in the new crowd...the RyJ Petit Royales.  Yeah, that's right.  Another Petit Robusto type!   Love them little fokkers!

I just feel old. All I see is just insane asking prices and soon everything is going to be a LE/regional/premium/casa Habano, etc etc.  will regular production for under $10/stick even exist by 2020? I feel like it was yesterday being pissy about paying $198 for a box of RJY belicosos.

I can stomach Over $10 for really good, quality smokes. But this $20+ insanity makes no sense to me. All I see from this article is $$$ I don't want to spend

It seems like it's the in thing these days to picture yourself smoking them with a shinny grandfather cock on your wrist too.

I actually think these might not be all that bad. Whist it's not an 'ideal' size its not too bad either. I think they'll smoke different to a short Robusto, they're closer to a cut down Corona Gorda. If the price is right I'll possibly give them a try.

I still think they should be called 'Short Churchills' as they truly are a short Churchill.
