Popular Post Lant63 Posted January 24, 2017 Popular Post Posted January 24, 2017 Shorter review this time around SMWS scotch to pair. I've been expanding my palate into peated scotch and this one is just lovely. Just enough smokey sweetness present to balance this bolivar. First third: beautiful open. Rich baker's cocoa. Not bitterness, lots of black coffee. A touch of citrus that I find mind blowingly good in aged bolivar. It fades quickly hopefully it will return. Second third: as soon as the ash falls the citrus returns. The coffee note fades and more of a leather and roasted almond enters. Slight umami mushroom similar to the punch ssn1 I had yesterday. More citrus and baker cocoa. Near perfect Final third: strength is building. Still no harshness at all. Less citrus here more black coffee. Not bitterness at all. Power grows, as I slow down puffing the citrus enters one final time before it is gone for good. Perfect construction throughout not a single touch up needed. Score 96 not bad for a 18 year old cigar. I waited to buy this cab for a while, and I'm sure glad I did. Perfect construction from every single one I've smoked. Aren't 50 cabs sexy? There is just something about them. As with the punch ssn1 we can only wish that this cigar will return to production in the next 50 years. Delicious, exceptional, perfect construction. Glad I have another cab in the wings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 7
MyWillYourFate Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Great review! That really makes me want to burn down the few 98's I have left. 1

Had been on the fence, too, of buying one of those '99 revisado cabs a few years back. Tried a couple of them and they were the lightest (not to say blandest) BCGs I had ever had. Not bad cigars per se, but truly underwhelming for a BCG. So eventually didn't buy the remaining box..... perhaps still a mistake after all?! Thanks for the very nice review! 1
PigFish Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 ... a couple of friends of mine split one of these and says that they have been phenomenal. Thinking back on a rather rude post that I just made about vintage year generalizations; I feel vindicated!!! (Not that I need justification for my posts!) Nice cigars, nice review. -Piggy

I find newer ones 2014-15 much lighter. I sound old now but have people noticed a different in the strength of blend of these in the past 20 years? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

I know that in general you smoke smaller cigars. Do you ever reach for a churchill?

The few Inmensas I have from 98 are so much more rich and enjoyable than any recent production. I have some high hopes for the 2015 turbos #1, based on a fiver I picked up, but they're on the cut list, so I doubt I'll get any more.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
havanaclub Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 I need a box of these BCG. Wonder if el prez has a few in hiding...Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
nanilla Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Thanks for the review. I have had a few from 98' and they are great.
