Popular Post dflan82 Posted January 24, 2017 Popular Post Posted January 24, 2017 There has already been a few reviews posted for the BCG as it is a forum favorite but I had to burn one of mine as part of this call out to HSA for their shortsighted mistakes. The Bolivar Coronas Gigante was my cigar of the year in 2015 and in my top 5 of 2016. The 6 or so that I had from this PSP box were outstanding. 92 pts at worst, 96 pts at best. I dry-boxed this cigar (along with the Des Dieux that I had afterwards) for a couple days and it probably could have used another day or two. These babies are rich and oily. Clipped the cap...slightly tight draw...toast it up and away we go The open of this cigar presents everything that I have come to love about the BCG: Rich tobacco and leather flavor with a swirl of cream and sugar wrapped around it. The scent from the resting smoke is one of my favorite parts about this cigar. The sweet aroma marries so well with the lingering leather on the palate. As I finish the first third the flavors turn a bit darker. More like a dark chocolate now mixed with leather. I suspect it is because it's a little damp out and I've kept the ash a little longer than I probably should. A quick tap and the flavors explode again with the brightness this cigar opened with. I'm even getting hints of honey which to me is what I pick up when I get and excellent example of this cigar. The second third of this particular cigar was probably my favorite. Leather/Honey/Nutty-Nugant flavors intermix for a good 25-30 minutes. The final third continues to be enjoyable but is a step back from the second third. More of the same flavors but a bit more muted. Finished it up around 1 hour 45 minutes All in all, another great example of one of my favorite cigars. Such a shame that these will be gone...another classic Churchill bites the dust 6
JohnS Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Thanks Dan for your wonderful review. I had a quick look at the Bolivar marca on Cuban Cigar Website tonight...8 regular production cigars and they (H.S.A) are cutting two of them! Yes, unbelievable! 1
awk6898 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Really really wish I could find some of these still around. They sound pretty damned delicious and I love the size, but the few places I've regularly bought from are finally sold out. Looks like I missed my chance. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
