kuma Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 When smoking at my local cigar bar I leave it on so as to show off, yes I'm vain. It either pisses the locals off in the bar or it becomes a conversation item. Either way the owner does not care much what I bring in to smoke as long as I buy something to drink or eat and toss him a Habanos. I guess I keep it on.

As the burn gets closer to the band it heats up the glue so (usually) I find it easier to remove. I have nicked a few wrappers trying to remove the band before lighting up. +1 for me as well. If it is slip sliding to start, though, off it comes.
busdriver Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I heard a well know reviewer once mention bands affecting the draw. I thought that was a bit odd however I could see big bands creating a local zone of higher RH if you were dry boxing for a short period of time like an hour or two. Any of yall ever heard of this?

Basically the customer relations person telecommutes and the supervisor is in the shop in the back back and he smokes darts (cigarettes) anyway. When the customer relationship manager comes in I refrain. 2
LGC Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 The wrapper doesn't affect the taste or my perception of the cigar. So, it goes if not glued to the wrapper

oside Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I usually leave the band on because I'm usually done by the time I reach it

Guest gorob23 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I take it off as soon as possible. I just do, Rob

JamesNYC Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 If the band is loose out of the box, I just take it off before I start smoking. Most of the time I leave it on until I am smoking down to the band, then I'll twist it, and if that doesn't do the trick, I have a keychain that has a knife and a small pair of scissors and I'll use one or the other to remove the band rather than risk damaging the cigar.
dtrott Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Usually leave it on but sometimes I'll remove and "date and rate" the stick on the back of the band.
Lant63 Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 I only smoke from discontinued 50 cabs that came with out bands, and custom rolls..... No band is the new band.

puromaniac Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 Wait, what, are we talking about the first or second band? I really do try and take off the first band before it starts burning. Can tend to ruin the taste.
forgop Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I wish there was a sure fire method for removing the band short of an exacto knife without tearing the band or wrapper in the process.
