CrankYanker Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Do you really need the cedar in the tupperdor? I just started mine and didn't use any.
Akela3rd Posted September 10, 2017 Posted September 10, 2017 Do you really need the cedar in the tupperdor? I just started mine and didn't use any. No, not at all. But...I do keep all the cedar dividers out of the old cigar boxes and have them insulating the bottom of my tupppador. No real science in it at all but I feel better having a slowly growing layer down there preventing the boxes sitting directly on the noticeably cooler base of the plastic.Thinking about it...I could just use panels of the empty boxes, but I don't. zeedubbya Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I have 2 Tuppers which I have a fair amount of overflow stock in. I picked up a Wine Cooler dirt cheap and took one of the shelves and drawers out of it to stash in the tuppers. With random collected Bovedas and some engineered desiccant it holds at a steady 63-64% and 68-70 dF in my basement. I am sure my ambient is likely controlling it more than I care to admit, but it does the job to my liking. However, I am headed down the controlled climate rabbit hole with Pigfish supplied equipment on my main humidor (wood box) so I have a feeling my tolerance is about to change.
