JohnS
Piggy, did you have something difficult to swallow on Christmas this year metaphorically speaking, or for real? If so, I wish you a speedy and complete recovery! Also, Oxycodone is not recommended for consumption with alcohol and that's not a good thing mate! Edit: I just re-read your tags much more closely. How the hell did you get a motorcycle chain link down your throat?

rickthecabbie
Nice plate Piggy, it looks like they did yours through the front. On the bright side, they shouldn't have had to cut any bone out on you to get that in, I hope. They chopped the back side out of 7 vertebra on me and dropped in 14 of these buggers. Hang in there mate. It's been 16 weeks for me, and I feel a lot better than before. I'm cheering for you. Rick
Popular Post PigFish
As a lot of you know, I have heart disease. So for me, some flair up of chest pain goes with the territory. That is part of the story, when I feel chest pain it is attributed to angina, and I see my cardiologist. I have a minor artery clog. The cardiologist opens it, and it eventually closes. My heart does not need it, on paper, the clog does not damage my heart or its function. When go to the doctor, with back, jaw and neck pain, they start on my heart, check troponin, and follow the path of highest probability. As a result I had an angiogram in August, and my cardiologist says what he always says, you have a minor artery clog, we are not going to bypass the one artery, it is not life threatening, take more of these and less of these and see me if it gets worse! Suddenly this month I was stricken, with pain and I spent some time trying to work around it. I figured it was angina... I went to see the cardiologist, and he suggested it might be mental.... -LOL Like, yes, I love pain!!! Finally I went off the hospital for the obligatory stay. I was just fighting these 'attacks' for no reason I would be taken down to the ground with pain from my back, neck and jaw, just like a heart attack, except I know what heart attacks feel like, and was convinced that my cardiologist was right, my heart was not the problem. So after a couple of days in the hospital, with everyone shaking their head, I told the internist that this was muscular, it felt like the muscles were being ripped from my back. He asked me if I had back problems, some lower back on occasion, but back problems, never! He insisted on an MRI of my neck, and with me shaking it, off I went. It was my cardiologist that barged into the room, attesting that I was not 'crazy in love with pain' and told me I had spinal stenosis! The report read severe! I agreed to go see my doctor and start with the usual therapy and drugs... A couple of days later, while with the wife in a neighboring town, I was just once more stricken! Off to the ER I went and 48 hours later the neurologist had me cut up, ground out and 'netted' back together. The back, neck and jaw pain, gone... Went to sleep with it, woke up without it... Damn miracle, I call it! Other pain, you bet, and plenty of it but all fixed with healing... The neurologist was right on the money, and I never would have believed it... But after racing dirt bikes on tracks and in the desert for almost 20 years, having landed on my head more than once, I should have seen it coming. Cabbie, Jesus, mine is smalltime compared to that extension ladder that they put in your back! No, they hollowed out C4, 5, and 6, bound them and filled the void with my own bone paste. They are supposed to grow back as one... Yeah, they cut my throat open to do it, but that hardly hurts, the cut. It is damn throat!!! They pulled it to one side to get to the spine with a grapefruit spoon and a hollow ground chisel and my damn throat is killing me! I spent some time in front of the computer today, and actually did a little drawing of a modified humidor project for a friend while in the hospital. Going to be starting on drawing and making parts back in the shop tomorrow (I hope). I just need to get all the nasty drugs out of my system, they really F' me up... So that is where I have been the past week, convalescing, as they say. Gotta' wear this damn horse collar for awhile, but it does not keep me from shop work. That's the story, thanks for the well wishes. Talk at you all soon... Cheers, Piggy PS... The motorcycle chain comment, the first thing that I thought of... "DAMN, that is where the 3 links went from that YZ 490 chain... back in the 80's. I would have thought I swallowed them...."
