I think the main lesson here is, if you're making a product presentation, make sure to check the samples before unwrapping them! To me this is a real backfire and trying to tap dance around it just ma

Hello all on this discussion thank you for taking your time to view my video. I thought I was not a member on FOH,  after talking to Rob, if i could log in as a guest he reminded me I was a member alr

AJ is a lovely guy.  I don't necessarily agree with his prognosis here. Is it open to interpretation? Certainly.  I have seen plume on occasion. Unless I am completely mistaken, I didn't see

Gotta keep the plume from going up the cigar, classic line!

Not the first time a vendor from the U.K. has referred to mold as plume, even with high priced vintage sticks sold in auction.

My first thought was, "why is Ajay Patel pulling out a box out of a bag that looks like a plain wooden miniature Tardis from Doctor Who?". Then I recognised recently retired Cigar Aficionado journalist Gordon Mott (he's moved to Mexico but still does articles for CA on Cuban cigars) and current CA Executive Editor David Savona (he's the bearded guy).

Then I thought, "it was a Cuaba that had the mold on it, so @Ken Gargett wouldn't mind too much if he had to review a cigar from that box!"

Makes one wonder if it's incompetence or dishonesty… anyway that's pityful…

Either way, it's simply inexcusable... especially when boxes are sold for thousands of dollars.

Your resolution must be much better than mine...I didn't see any green whatsoever.

now everything else he has proclaimed is suspect.

All of his provenance for his high dollar London Stock is in question.

It was the way the light hit the cap of the cigar as he rolled it around I thought I saw a slight greenish tinge to it.

This is probably a dumb question but, he said "If plume gets up the cigar, it will ruin it." If that was actually plume, is that true? I know thats true about mold, but I've never heard anyone say plume going up a cigar will ruin it. Maybe he thinks plume and mold are the same thing? I dunno, I would hope that a person who owns a LCDH could tell the difference.

Also, let's say you are sitting there with them and they offer you this cigar. What do you do/say? :fuel:

This is a common occurrence at herfs I have been to. The 1st time it happened I was a bit taken back, but it's all in the mind, and I have tried some amazing sticks this way, especially a few pre embargo's.

Mold doesn't exist in B&Ms.  It is as invisible to the merchant's eyes as two Baptists crossing paths in a liquor store are to each other.

Looks like mold to me. If not, the most plume I've ever encountered. The way it wraps completely around the rounded head of the cigar just looks so typical of mold and not plume. It's appears awfully thick and white and plume is much more powdery and light. A good example:

Plume from my own cigar:

Also suspicious is the cigar being an outermost stick in the box--the prime candidate for mold.

Seems like a slight of hand obfuscation to me...as he quickly wipes it off.

I thought that as well but hesitated to say it. Kind of a "nothing to see here--just a bit of plume" and wipe.

I guess it's pretty unanimous here--not really on Ajay's side, although I hate to render a guilty verdict without seeing the cigar(s) in person. Ajay is a very respected and knowledgeable individual. It's not even really that big of a deal. So there's some mold. It happens, wipe it down along with the rest of the cigars and move on--but own it.

I'm not rendering any verdict at all. Ajay is on a completely difference universe than me when it comes to cigars. I could only hope to have 1/10th of his knowledge and experience as it relates to cigars. But...I've always heard and experienced that "Plume/Bloom" was something to admire and desire...not wipe off quickly. At any rate...I'm certain it will be or was a great smoke.
