SaintMickey® Posted December 17, 2016 Author Posted December 17, 2016 So how did it turn out? I ran mine to long the first time and it took about 3 hours for the smell of rain to go away. After that I knocked it down to 20-25 minutes. It doesn't take much 03 to kill the smell. I'm turning mine on now and heading for bedI only ran mine 30 minutes and it seemed to help. More experiments to come....!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was trying to use it in a study in the house. Also, Call it psychosomatic but couldn't really be around it without getting a headache even if I didn't run if long and "aired out" the room. I've gone this long without it which probably means I don't need it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's exactly what it's perfect for. I'm shocked it didn't work for you. Did you run a fan or something while the room was closed up to move the air while it worked? It makes it much more effective in a shorter time period. "Psychosomatic"...I was willing to think that but my head/throat definitely didn't like being around a newly OZ'd room. Back to the room...I didn't explain it well. It can't be "closed up". It is a room off to the left of front door before you go either to the main living room or up the stairs...sitting room/study is best name for it...It has 2 ways in/out but has zero doors (sounds like a riddle). No real way to contain the O3...
charlesod Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Large window exhaust fan. Primitive but effective. 1

You know what...I did this as I have a window to my right. Put a new box fan in it blowing out and it might have been the best solution yet. Additionally I bought a small HEPA air purifier w/ charcoal as well. Do you leave ceiling fan on? I think I will turn on after I am done next time and allow the box fan to do it's job without the ceiling fan causing any undo "circulation". I am going to research a "nicer" window fan if that exists.
BarryNY Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Your biggest problem is going to be all the tar staining you will get on all the walls and fabrics. You won't notice it at first, but if you has a piece of paper taped to the wall and removed it after a few months of smoking you'd see the difference... You need a powerful unit with tons of charcoal (over 15 pounds) rated for 2x the size of the room because you can't close it off.

OZ generator is he only thing that will. It has been 6 years in my smoking room and the only place you see any tar discolor is on the exhaust fan covers. Even if you do get it on the walls or ceiling it's nothing fresh paint can't fix. I can see this being a problem with married beta guys that need permission from the boss for everything. I guess guys need to decide whether they want to be able to enjoy a smoke inside or not. For me, I prefer it even in nice weather because half the experience for me is smoke control. If there is even a light breeze it kinda kills it for me. But I don't have a woman running my life. They leave in the morning ;-) Others may differ but personally...My wife has zero input on this...actually encourages me to smoke cigars. She says I'm "nicer and calmer" when I'm smoking. LOL And I agree 100% I enjoy smoking outdoors only if the temperature is perfect (think indoors) and there is zero breeze. I wanna enjoy that smoke not have it float away. I'm going to take the "higher" ground on the "woman running my life" because I'm sure you talk with some "experience" that I will not question! I guess I will just count my blessings and consider myself very lucky...wait I hear her now (clinking of ice cubes in the distance) getting me a Blanton's bourbon. 1

I am just amazed how many guys have to "clear it with the boss" with so many things in their lives. Yep, I made that mistake myself and she seemed perfect at the beginning like they all do. But they slowly change. They say a woman marries a man hoping she can change him into what she wants him to be and a man marries a woman hoping she won't change, lol .. from experience that's pretty accurate. i leave any details for others to figure out on their own. I'm much happier with a different one daily and doing what I want with my money the rest of the time ;-) hahaha this is funny. 1. How old are you? 2. Do you have kids? 3. When you're 60 your perspective will surely change. My 30 year old playboy kid thinks the same as you.... 4. The only marriage that works is a true 50/50 partnership with total mutual respect. 5. We met as college freshman and 43 years later we still sometimes fight like cats and dogs during the day but then hold hands at night...........LOL........ 6. Motto for a long and happy marriage: Better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission. 7. And never have a joint checking account! 1
BarryNY Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 "I am 45 with two kids. Was married for 15 years. Never had any idea that I was unhappy until it was over. About a month later it was a feeling I have to think a man would feel after getting out of prison. " OK - you're lucky to have 2 kids. And I'm happy for you. Yes tons of guys are married to the wrong gal and are absolutely miserable no doubt. I'm curious who's going to wipe your ass and help you put on your diaper when you're 89............ I guess your 2 kids will do that for you....hopefully.... My Dad is 91 and my Mom is 89. Dad is slowing down (played tennis up until about 2 years ago). I don't know how he'd get along without my mother....... What about Assisted Living? Wait till you see the $$$$ cost when you're going to need it.
SaintMickey® Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 I never said I was the smartest but I just went outside to sit as it's 68° out. Went into this building to get a chair and a big old lightbulb went off. Windows were closed and it was toasty warm in there… I think I found my home gents. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We need to start up a cigar lounge version of AirBnB. I will volunteer the Winter Cigar Lounge as the first. Just make sure to make a reservation as it's barely big enough for two. 1

Used the Airpura last night for the first time. 1. 6:00pm: 3 smokers - RA Superiors 2012 2. 9:30pm: 3 smokers - PSD4 2008 Had it on MAX. Do you hear the fan yes. Is it annoying - not really it's just a hum. If you hold your stogie about 12" from the body (intake) - it absolutely sucks all the smoke in. Anyway 3 puffers for about 1 hour with the Airpura on MAX, and yes while we smoked there was smoke in the garage...however, after we were done, I opened the garage door for about 15 minutes and then closed it. Kept the Airpura running on MAX the entire time....and remembered to empty the nubs/ashes cause they stink bad....that Airpura moves a lot of air volume. When we got back into the garage for the second smoke - there was just barely a hint of tobacco smell. Did the same routine. Left the Airpura on MAX overnight. In the morning there was no cigar smoke smell. This is my experience. How long the unit will last I don't know. But what I do believe is that sitting by myself and keeping the stogie relatively close to the Airpura there will be absolutely no cigar smell. I'll be smoking alone tonight to confirm that. Oh and no cigar smell on our clothes... 1
BarryNY Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 An additional problem with Ozone generators is that they tend to "break down" rubberized products and seals over time. I have my scuba equipment, wet suits and metal detecting equipment in the garage and don't want to subject them to the ozone abuse. I'm still on the fence about adding the powerful ceiling exhaust fan to suck out the maximum smoke while the cigars are burning and then the burden on the charcoal filtration is that much less. For the price of a replacement filter I can have a 1,000 cfm exhaust fan professionally installed and vented outside...the room is about 4,000 cf.
BarryNY Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Looks interesting and I'm happy to be corrected. I may grab one and check it out. They are not that much $$.
jfire Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 My O3 generate oxidized the wiring in itself in roughly 16 months of daily use. I opened it up after it failed. (No pics from 2014)I own a 1200 cfm exhaust fan in my finished cigar lounge.A rabbit Aire 780A in the poker area section. (Does not do everything needed but helps in this somewhat segregated section of the room)No carpetsLeather chairs.2 inches of closed cell spray in foam in all ceilings and walls. And I just washed half the walls (with my weekly floor mopping on the hardwood floors)1200 cigars later and there is just the VERY slightest of smell. It takes a ton of work to get a near perfect setup, IMO in ones own home cigar lounge.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

Lasabar Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 When it's cold here in Wisconsin, USA I used to just smoke with the windows cracked and when done I'd run a Csonka Ozone Generator. It was fighting a smell with a smell. The smoke WOULD be gone after running the Csonka ALL NIGHT LONG, but you'd have to hold your breath, walk into my man cave and shut off the Csonka and then run out while you still had breath left. The smell of OZONE is overpowering and it's bad for your lungs (I've read) so I just let that dissolve all day long and by night time there would be no smell of cigars only a faint ozone/clean-ish feeling. NOW I use mainly a Blueair 403 while I smoke and with it on full blast it keeps the smoke out of the air. It still gets smoky, but it's SO much better. I just leave the blueair on overnight and the next morning the smell is so faint that I don't run the ozone. If I'm having company in the room that aren't smokers I run the ozone while the bluair is on and that's a 1-2 combo that works wonders! I bought the Cosnka about 7 years ago and the Bluair this year so it's spread out, but retail it's an expensive combo but I like the fact I can have minimal smell or NO smell if I work at it
BarryNY Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I'm sure this doesn't need to be said....but I'll say it anyway: Make sure the ashtray is emptied and cleaned...just the ash residue in the ashtray leaves a lingering odor... 1
