Okay, so in previous years we have seen cigars like the Punch Punch and RyJ Churchill go from mediocre at best to amazing. This year the Dip #2 came from nowhere to being a top rated cigar here. Obviously there is some mysterious cigar whisper going around Havana and breathing life into previously dead cigars. What cigar does he work his magic on in 2017?

My bet: Trinidad Coloniales. I figure between the new LE coming and the Vigia already out, there is a little more attention to the brand. We have seen a few more boxes already on 24:24s. I think they are just the beginning... :daydream:

There are lots of cigars that should be great that aren't. I'd like to the the Monte Edmundo show the same level of quality as the Petit Edmundo regularly does.

The JLPC is due for a comeback...seems to have had an off year 14 and I haven't seen any 15 or 16 production. 17 may be the year.

Partagas Shorts seem to have dipped a bit in 15 and 16. Let's hope 17 turns that around.

RAG and SC El Morro are due for some love as well. Hardly been talked about at all for a few years.

i think VR has also been a little off from 13 and 14. JMO.

I like your thoughts on the Coloniales, really hope it proves to be true.  I also hope the RyJ Churchill (my go to cigar) continues to be as awesome as in the past year.

As for my prediction:  I'll root for the Monte Edmundo to turn around.  That cigar can't get much worse IMO.

Does it have to be something they are actually producing?  If not, I'm wishing they use their magic touch to bring back the des Dieux.

the monte open should be renamed to close and never "open" that box of duds

If the brief is to the resurrection of cigars which have been quite average in recent years, my sincere hope is for better RyJ Short Churchills. Have long been a fan (relatively speaking), and hope some of the recent Churchill, WC and Ex#4 magic might rub off on the SC.

R&J Short Churchills indeed. There is no reason for the last few years of consistent rubbish to continue.

The SLR Serie A

&

The ERDM Choix Supreme

is what I would like to see hit the prime time.

Great choices Jeremy. Both of these have seen a production hiatus in 2016. Remember how popular the Saint Luis Rey Serie A was at Havanathon last year on the deck? I love that stonefruit/tangy/citrus and apple flavours in these.

The El Rey del Mundo has been more reputable in the past right? I enjoy the light milk coffee and sweet almond flavours from the Choix Supreme, but I prefer the paler, thinner yellow wrappers on these rather than the chestnut brown, thicker, almost-fireproof wrappers I've encountered.

The  El Rey del Mundo used to be fantastic I have boxes of the choix supreme from 05,06 and 07 fantastic smokes, I am not familiar with anything more recent but from you guys are saying seems Im not missing anything

Trinidad Vigia's for me.  Had these for the first time in Cuba this past October and have stocked up since.  Smoking pretty well young and cannot wait till some age kicks in!

Hope to see the run of Punch Punch and the Dip 2 continue. Both are absolutely heavenly at the moment, cannot ask for a better cigar.

Would love to see something like the Partagas Serie Du Connoisseur or Hoyo Du Gourmet come back, as both are all time favorites.

two words:  Club.  Allones.

To me, they are going to be like the Connie A were a couple of years ago.  Might need a little more down time, but already smoking fantastic IMO.

Agreed.  maybe I missed the point of the OP.  I can be slow at times. I think they will pop in '17, that's all.

I think the RACA are going to be popping right out of existence soon...I doubt we're going to be seeing much late 16 or any 17 production on these.

Personally, I'm quite looking forward to the Monte Dantes and the Trini Topes in 17. The 14 and 15 LEs have certainly been a cut above and I'm hoping this is a continuing trend for this series. LEs have been hit or miss for far too long. The two 2015 LE releases and the 14 CRS will certainly go down as three of the best to date. If HSA is only going to release two or three a year but all are at the 2015 level, I say keep it at two or three a year.

Indeed. The SC in the dumps is a huge missed opportunity. They introduced it, it picked up a lot of fans, and then HSA crapped on us. It could be a big seller...but what else is new.

Death, taxes, and those two never coming back are pretty much certainties in life, unfortunately. And you'll go crazy wondering how the geniuses at HSA see MdO#4 and PLMC consistently sell but have no inclination to resurrect the PSdC line--IMO the most mourned Cuban cigars since their demise along with the Boli CE and the Punch Corona Gordas.
