It's strange to me that Cigar Aficionado magazine wouldn't have more CC in the top of the list. There were so many great full page color advertisements for them. The Cohiba, Partagas and SCdLH advertisements were amazing.

Nice article...

I can only imagine that the shades of grey/white will for now be argued and real Habanos be deemed fake from this statement alone  although from those new to the game (only half joking)

"If you believe you have a real Cuban cigar, all the proof can be gathered from the color of the ash. Counterfeits will burn grey, while Cubans will burn almost pure white."

The Ash comment is hilarious!

I've had every shade of white, grey, and black in my experiences.

Strange comment made to incite argument maybe?

Sublime NC marketing ploy?

Hahaha!

First I've heard that the D4 has overtaken the Monte 4 as the best selling Cuban cigar...although they worded it oddly--"The most popular cigar made in Cuba"--so perhaps it's a misleading statement. Can this be confirmed? Last I saw production numbers for the Monte 4 were far higher than the D4.

Amazing to me that because CA didn't rank them high it's considered fact

I'm not complaining. The more NCs are rated as better than Cubans then the less the demand, therefore more available for us. (in my dreams! I know)

Agreed. Although there are no official figures, I wouldn't be surprised if both the Montecristo No.4 and Montecristo No.2 individually outsell the Partagas Serie D No.4. At the very least, the Montecristo No 4 would be my choice for the highest-selling Habanos vitola.

I am sure something sticks in the back my mind--someone told me once when I first started dabbling in CCs the ash was supposed to be a lot darker than on an NC.  Could be wrong?   Loads of misinformation there-- it's truly laughable.

This was one of the first pieces of "information" I was fed when I started smoking Cubans earlier this year.

Thanks to Rob, I have smoked some of the best fake Cubans on the face of the planet. ;)

Best part of that article was the size chart, would love to have that in the man cave.

There is a different one for $30 bucks on eBay, but I wouldn't trust it as a real CC chart. Most of he bands have been removed.

Much in the same way that fine wines can grow better in taste and higher in value with age, so too do cigars embody a similar virtue when placed in a humidor for even as short a period of time as one month.

Oh no, they have exposed my plan to dominate the one month aged market.  I was planning on doubling my money on one month aged Cubans.

The other secret they didn't mention is to age at 98% relative humidity and then smoke them upside down.

I believe this is commonly known as the "bragas de ángeles" affect, or "angels panties" to translate.

A known side affect of being rolled upon wholesome virgin thighs.

The more sullied the torcedor, the darker the ash.

Thought everybody knew that

There was something floating around a year or two ago that said the D4 had overtaken the #4 but I can't remember the source. It was on here though.

That really big fellow that eats cigars from Sautters has said the same thing. Or maybe it was the D4 is the best selling cigar HE has...I can't remember now.
