Trevor2118 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Earlier today (7th December 2016) a devastating outage at the data centre that hosts Cuban Cigar Website resulted in a total loss of all data relating to the site - the database, user data, thousands of images etc. Alex is currently working with the data centre staff, as well as going through his own backups, to see what can be salvaged. The website will be down until further notice.
Habana Mike Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Ouch!!! That's a horrible start to the Christmas season Trevor and Alex. Hope you can recover most. It's a treasure that will be missed while offline
strikethebox7 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Nooooo! But I trust Alex and others will make it rightSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

bman75 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Just makes me realize how much I rely on the site. I'm on it nearly every day dreaming about my next acquisitions.
busdriver Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Best of luck with the recovery guys. You do a great service to the community with your site. Thank you!
LordAnubis Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Terrible news mate, hope backups are readily available. All the best folks, its a great site!
El Presidente Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Trev My heart goes to out to you and Alex. if you need any outside help with tech staff etc, I volunteer my own. Just touch base mate. 4
ATGroom Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Thanks for the support guys. The issue is at the data centre level, so unfortunately there's not a lot I can do technically... I am sending them a lot of emails though. At the moment things look pretty grim, but I remain hopeful that we'll get some kind of recovery. Will give you updates when I have them.
JohnS Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Trevor and Alex, Having spent hours talking about Cuban Cigar Website with you both, I am devastated by this news. I'll be in touch. John
Rye Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Best of luck with the repairs. Such a valuable service to the community
zeedubbya Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I am genuinely saddened by this announcement--the site is beyond legendary status. Good luck to you guys. 1
mdinius Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Based on my extensive conversations with our IT department, I'd suggest passing along these suggestions to the data centre: 1. Ctrl+Z 2. Restarting the computer 3. Unplugging the router for no less than 30 seconds, then plugging it back in. All joking aside, I was just getting the lay of the land on the website cruising for 48 RG cigars of different marcas. Tons of valuable information on the site and I hope all the data can be recovered soon!
NSXCIGAR Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 This is truly a great loss to the community if the worst is true...hoping for the best on this one.
polarbear Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Looks like Dusky Beauties is down too Don't know how much more tragedy I can take right now... 1
jay8354 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Sorry for the news, hope recovery is swift and fruitful. Hope the DataCentre can assist.

Cletus Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Sad news -- Cuban Cigar Website is such a great resource. Good luck on getting the site restored. It's a little clunky but you can access snapshots of CCW through the Internet Archive. http://web.archive.org/web/20161027124743/http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/
Fugu Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Have been using CCW and corresponding every once a while with Trev and Alex long before I came here. Such a terrible news. All the best to you guys!! Hope this is turning out better than it seems right now. Good luck!
Ryan Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Best of luck with this. The stuff of my nightmares. Hopefully there's a backup somewhere.
